Verizon (NYSE, Nasdaq: VZ) today announced a major shift in its business model, eliminating activation and upgrade fees for all postpaid customers who opt into its new loyalty program. The company also launched "Verizon Simplicity," a streamlined plan priced at $45 per line ($30 for new customers switching to Verizon) that includes unlimited access to its best 5G network, including 5G Ultra Wideband, without tiered pricing. Additionally, Verizon introduced "Verizon One," a combined mobile and home internet plan for $70 per month with taxes and fees included.
These changes are part of Verizon's multi-year transformation to prioritize customer experience, as stated by CEO Dan Schulman: "We’re fundamentally reshaping Verizon inside and out to put the customer at the center of everything we do." The new Verizon Loyalty program, available to all customers on any plan, offers 3% back in Verizon Dollars monthly, redeemable for devices, accessories, or up to 5x value at partners like Sephora, Hilton, and Starbucks. The program also includes "Verizon Shine," a weekly sweepstakes for once-in-a-lifetime experiences such as VIP access to the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final, concerts, and culinary tours.
The elimination of activation and upgrade fees, which can save customers up to $40 per device, is an industry first. Customers can opt in via the My Verizon app. According to Alfonso Villanueva, Interim CEO of Verizon Consumer Group, "Customers reward us with their loyalty every month. Verizon Dollars lets us reward them back, on their terms."
The Simplicity plan moves beyond traditional tiered networks and phone subsidies, offering unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband data, 10GB of premium mobile hotspot, roaming in Canada and Mexico, and satellite texting. Customers can add home internet for $35 per month and choose from customizable bundles like "For Movie and Show Lovers" with Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, Netflix, and HBO Max, or a Travel bundle with Global Calling Plus and Travel Pass days.
Verizon One combines mobile and home services into a single bill for $70 per month, leveraging Verizon's 5G network and fiber network. The plan is managed through the My Verizon app, aiming for a frictionless experience.
Existing customers can continue with myPlan while also benefiting from the new loyalty program. More information is available at verizon.com/loyalty and through the My Verizon app. The company expects these initiatives to be accretive to revenue and EBITDA growth while reducing churn, with no change to its 2026 financial guidance.
