Verite Capital Partners, a Stamford, Connecticut-based advisory and investment firm, has appointed Sumit Majumdar as Vice Chairman, Chief Sustainability Officer, and Operating Partner. The appointment, announced by Chairman and Managing Partner Don Jones, signifies a major expansion of the firm's commitment to environmental sustainability, large-scale industrial job creation, and economic development for underserved populations.
Don Jones, who brings nearly 50 years of executive leadership experience from roles at Macy's, IKEA, GAP, and Target, founded Verite in 2009. He has focused on scaling capital access and corporate education for diverse entrepreneurs. Jones serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Felician University, where he received the 2024 Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Award for ethical leadership, and sits on the boards of Nuvance Health and Northwell Health. He also chairs the Verite Foundation.
Majumdar's appointment follows a two-year mentorship under Jones. His previous role as President of Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. for 20 years helped grow the company into a major multi-state enterprise serving over 30,000 locations, preventing significant greenhouse gas emissions through localized waste-to-energy systems. He is also the architect of 'Project Green Logic,' a carbon-negative industrial hub and advanced materials research center, and has engineered waste-to-energy frameworks in Ghana, Nigeria, and Mexico.
As Vice Chairman and Chief Sustainability Officer, Majumdar will oversee an international initiative to establish more than one million green jobs globally while reducing worldwide carbon emissions by one percent, scaling operations systematically within that same ratio. 'The metric-driven target is to build an infrastructure capable of mobilizing 100 million individuals to secure environmental viability for subsequent generations,' Majumdar stated.
Verite Capital Partners manages $7 billion in current obligations and over $20 billion in committed investments, positioning the firm to deploy capital at scale for long-term global impact. The firm is committed to fostering ethical growth, sustainable infrastructure, and economic opportunity across energy, agricultural, and industrial sectors. Majumdar's expertise in industrial scaling, circular economy frameworks, and advanced material science will be instrumental in achieving these goals. Together, Jones and Majumdar aim to demonstrate that high-level corporate finance can be systematically leveraged to achieve environmental stability and equitable global opportunity.
