NEW YORK, NY — The Tú Cuentas Cine Youth Fest (TCCYF), a youth-focused film initiative created by HITN, has won two Telly Awards for its interview series Tú Cuentas Cafecito. The series earned a Silver Telly in the General–Interview & Talk Show category for an episode featuring Ingrid 'Superstar' Salcedo, an Emmy Award-winning broadcast executive and producer known for shaping Latin music award shows. A second episode, featuring Puerto Rican actress and filmmaker Roselyn Sánchez, received a Bronze Telly. Sánchez, known for her roles in Without a Trace and Devious Maids, recently expanded into directing with her film Diario, Mujer y Café.
The awards underscore the growing visibility of Hispanic-centered storytelling in digital and television media. For five years, HITN’s goal with Tú Cuentas has been to create a platform where young filmmakers can showcase their voices. Cynthia Rivera, co-director of the series, stated, “Seeing our Cafecito series recognized with these Telly Awards is a beautiful affirmation of that vision, and we are deeply grateful to the emerging filmmakers who trust us with their stories and to the Telly Awards for this honor.”
At the heart of the series is host Raymond Arturo Pérez, a Los Angeles-based television writer and creative originally from San Antonio, Texas. Pérez previously served as a staff writer on season two of Selena: The Series and has focused on elevating Latino, queer, and underrepresented voices. Rivera praised Pérez’s role, saying, “He creates a welcoming space where guests can openly share their stories and connect with audiences in a meaningful way.”
HITN Media, the Spanish-language media company behind the initiative, reaches more than 35 million homes in the United States and Puerto Rico through major providers. The Telly Awards, established in 1979, honor video and television across all screens, receiving over 13,000 entries annually. The recognition for Tú Cuentas Cafecito highlights the importance of platforms that blend cultural conversation with personal narrative, amplifying voices that are often underrepresented in mainstream media.
