Tradegate AG, a market specialist for shares and exchange-traded products (ETPs) on the Tradegate Berlin Stock Exchange (Tradegate BSX), has reported an exceptionally strong first half of 2026. The company's revenue increased by 15% compared to the same period last year, reaching approximately EUR 281 billion. The number of individual transactions surged by 31.7% to 47,497,913 trades, reflecting heightened investor activity.
The growth was not uniform across the half-year. January and June saw the highest increases in turnover, with gains of around 50% year-over-year, while March and April experienced declines of 5.5% and 13.2% respectively. This volatility in trading volumes was driven by periods of high market volatility, which also contributed to improved gross margins in securities trading compared to the previous year.
As a result, profit from ordinary activities rose disproportionately to turnover growth, increasing by 63.7% to EUR 66.11 million. Net profit after tax followed suit, climbing 64.2% to EUR 46.087 million. These figures underscore the company's ability to capitalize on market conditions and its operational efficiency.
Looking ahead, the first six weeks of the second half of 2026 have shown moderate growth in turnover of around 12% compared to the same period last year, suggesting that the positive momentum may continue, albeit at a more modest pace.
The half-yearly report is available on the company's website at www.tradegate.ag. Tradegate AG, a CRR credit institution based in Berlin, acts as a market specialist for over fourteen thousand types of securities, including shares, ETPs, and derivatives, on the Tradegate Berlin Stock Exchange, which specializes in the needs of private investors. The company also operates the tradegate.direct app, enabling private investors to trade directly and free of charge on the Tradegate BSX, and issues structured products while offering exclusive private banking under the Berliner Effektenbank brand.
These results highlight the significant impact of market volatility on trading volumes and profitability for market specialists. The strong performance in the first half of 2026 positions Tradegate AG well for the remainder of the year, even as market conditions evolve.
