TibaRay Launches Wefunder Campaign to Advance FLASH Radiotherapy Technology

TibaRay, a Stanford spinout developing next-generation accelerator technology for FLASH radiotherapy, has launched a Regulation CF campaign on Wefunder, opening the company to individual investors. The campaign aims to fund continued development of its proprietary Galactica linear accelerator, which is designed to deliver radiation hundreds of times faster than current systems.

FLASH radiotherapy is an emerging treatment modality that delivers radiation at ultra-high dose rates, potentially sparing healthy tissue while maintaining tumor control. TibaRay's technology addresses the fundamental challenge of enabling such rapid delivery, which requires entirely new accelerator designs. The company's Galactica accelerator has already been integrated into Leo Cancer Care's upright radiotherapy system, marking its first commercial application.

To date, TibaRay has raised over $27 million in investments and grants, including more than $14 million in non-dilutive federal research funding. Its intellectual property portfolio includes over 20 issued and pending patents. The company is pursuing a phased commercialization strategy, initially generating revenue by selling its accelerator technology for medical imaging, security scanning, and non-destructive testing, with a long-term goal of deploying the PHASER radiotherapy system for ultrafast treatment delivery.

Individual investors can participate in the Wefunder campaign, which offers a chance to support a technology that could transform cancer care. According to the company, more than 15,000 patients are treated with radiotherapy daily in the U.S., and FLASH radiotherapy could improve outcomes by reducing side effects. The campaign page provides details on the technology, partnerships, and development plans.
