The Schiller Kessler Group Awards Healing Journey Scholarship to Brain Tumor Survivor Parker Shubin

DAVIE, FL – The Schiller Kessler Group has announced Parker Shubin as the recipient of its Healing Journey Scholarship, an award designed to support individuals who have demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity and a commitment to helping others. Shubin, diagnosed with a pilocytic astrocytoma brain tumor at age five, has undergone 14 brain surgeries and years of chemotherapy, yet remains focused on his goal of becoming a pediatric nurse.

According to the firm, the scholarship helps students like Shubin pursue their education without financial stress. “This scholarship will allow me to pursue my education to become a registered nurse without the added stress of funding my studies,” Shubin said. “I've been on the receiving end of world-class care, and now I want to give that same level of care to others. I don't want to be defined by my past, but I do want to be driven by it.”

Shubin is currently completing prerequisites at Moorpark College in California and has applied to several Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs. His ultimate ambition is to work at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, where he has been treated for the past 15 years. Beyond academics, he volunteers as a Care Extender at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, assisting nurses and comforting patients, including those with conditions similar to his own. He has also been active with the American Cancer Society on Campus and Synapse at UCLA, supporting survivors of brain injuries and cancer.

One of the most valuable lessons he learned came from a mentor during his time at UCLA Medical Center, who taught him that “sometimes, just being there is enough.” The Schiller Kessler Group created the Healing Journey Scholarship to support individuals like Parker, who have demonstrated resilience and commitment to making a positive impact. The Schiller Kessler Group is dedicated to improving lives both inside and outside the courtroom.

Founded in 2004, The Schiller Kessler Group has over three decades of experience providing aggressive and compassionate legal representation to personal injury victims across Florida. With more than $250 million recovered for over 30,000 clients, the firm's Florida personal injury lawyers are dedicated to achieving justice for those injured in car accidents, work accidents, and other acts of negligence.
