SS Innovations Unveils Drone, Humanoid, and Mobile OR Robotic Systems at SMRSC 2026

SS Innovations International, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSII) unveiled several cutting-edge surgical robotic technologies at the Global Multi-Specialty Robotic Surgery Conference (SMRSC 2026) held in New Delhi, India. The company presented its vision for the SSi Vimana Aero drone system, the SSi Avtara humanoid surgical platform, the SSi Operion mobile operating room, and new single-arm robotic endoscopy and ultrasound assist carts. These innovations are under development and aim to expand access to robotic surgery in challenging environments such as battlefields, disaster zones, and remote areas.

The SSi Vimana Aero is a surgical robotic system designed to be deployed via a heavy-lift autonomous drone to provide expert surgical care directly to wounded soldiers in active battle zones. It features two miniature robotic arms with seven degrees of freedom and 5-millimeter instruments, enabling trauma surgeons to remotely perform procedures such as hemorrhaging control, wound repair, chest decompression, shrapnel extraction, and field suturing. The system aims to stabilize patients until evacuation teams arrive, bridging the critical time gap between injury and evacuation.

The SSi Avtara is a humanoid surgical platform under conceptual development, leveraging advanced mobility, dexterity, and perception capabilities for high-impact applications in healthcare, defense, logistics, disaster response, and industrial settings. Integrated with artificial intelligence and teleoperation frameworks, the platform is designed for trainability, continuous learning, and precision. Its human-compatible design is expected to enable seamless interaction with existing infrastructure and tools, from assisting clinical workflows to operating in hazardous environments.

The SSi Operion is a fully mobile, platform-agnostic operating room ecosystem built on a wheeled chassis with overhead-integrated robotics and a zero-footprint architecture. By suspending all surgical components from an overhead system, it eliminates conventional spatial constraints, enabling 360-degree clinician access and real-time reconfiguration. With integrated telesurgery capabilities and low-latency connectivity, the SSi Operion is expected to enable expert surgeons to operate remotely, expanding access to advanced surgical care in hospitals, remote locations, combat areas, and disaster zones.

Additionally, the company unveiled new single-arm robotic endoscopy and ultrasound assist carts, currently undergoing early clinical validation in India. These carts provide stable, precise positioning of endoscopic and ultrasound instruments under direct clinician supervision, with controlled speed and force limits to ensure safety. Compatibility with standard hospital infrastructure allows seamless integration into existing clinical workflows.

Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Chairman and CEO of SS Innovations, stated, "Innovation is in our DNA. Beyond continuously improving our advanced, cost-effective SSi Mantra surgical robotic system and telesurgery capabilities, we strive to pioneer new surgical robotic technologies that will meaningfully improve healthcare for a wider segment of patients in need." A video clip of these advancements is available at https://youtu.be/oO-yoo82pfE.

SMRSC 2026 attracted over 1,600 attendees and 1,800 virtual participants from 19 nations. The conference featured 10 live telesurgeries and 13 live robotic surgeries using the SSi Mantra, along with dozens of panel discussions across multiple specialties. Prominent guests included Dr. Fred Moll, Vice-Chairman and recognized as the "Father of Robotic Surgery"; Shri Pratap Rao Jadhav, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare of India; and Sri Madhusudan Sai, a global humanitarian.
