SS Innovations International, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSII) announced the successful completion of a landmark long-distance cross-border telesurgery, performed during the Royal Australian College of Surgeons Annual Scientific Congress. On May 2, 2026, Dr. Mohit Bhandari, President of IRCAD India, remotely performed a robotic gastrojejunostomy on a patient in Indore, India, while seated more than 4,500 miles away in Perth, Australia. The procedure utilized the SSi Mantra surgical robotic system and the SSi MantrAsana tele-surgeon console, a compact, chair-based version of the standard surgeon command center designed for portability and telesurgery.
The SSi MantrAsana enables real-time remote procedures through ultra-low latency connectivity, high-definition visualization, and precise instrument control. To date, over 170 telesurgeries, including intricate cardiac procedures, have been performed with the SSi Mantra system. Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Chairman and CEO of SS Innovations, stated, 'We believe that telesurgery has the power to transform traditional healthcare delivery and democratize access to global surgical expertise. We are proud to be pioneering this revolutionary technology.'
The demonstration highlights the potential of telesurgery to bridge geographical gaps in surgical care, making specialized procedures accessible to patients in remote or underserved regions. SS Innovations plans to expand the global presence of its cost-effective surgical robotic solutions.
