SS Innovations International Inc. (NASDAQ: SSII), a developer of innovative surgical robotic technologies, has appointed veteran medical technology finance executive Sarah M. Romano as chief financial officer, effective August 3, 2026. The appointment brings public-company financial and capital markets experience as the company continues its global expansion and advances regulatory initiatives for its SSi Mantra robotic surgical platform.
Romano brings more than two decades of experience in public-company finance, capital markets, and medical technology, having raised more than $100 million during her career. She joins SS Innovations after serving as chief financial officer at Vicarious Surgical, another developer of robotic surgical technologies, where she oversaw financial and operational initiatives designed to reduce cash burn and strengthen the company’s balance sheet.
The appointment comes as SS Innovations continues pursuing U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance for its SSi Mantra surgical robotic system while expanding internationally. The company recently graduated the inaugural class of its SS International Centre for Robotics Surgery (SSICRS) cardiac robotic surgery training program, which welcomed 33 healthcare professionals from seven countries. This underscores the company’s emphasis on surgeon education alongside technology deployment.
With Romano’s expertise, SS Innovations aims to navigate the complex regulatory and financial landscape of the medtech industry. The company is preparing for FDA review of its SSi Mantra system, a key milestone that could open the U.S. market to its robotic surgical platform. Internationally, SS Innovations has been expanding its presence, leveraging training programs to build a skilled user base for its technology.
The addition of Romano to the leadership team is expected to strengthen SS Innovations’ financial strategy as it scales operations. Her experience in capital markets and medtech finance will be critical as the company seeks to fund its growth and regulatory efforts. The company’s focus on robotic surgery aligns with broader industry trends toward minimally invasive procedures, which are driving demand for advanced surgical robots.
