SBF AG Expands Sensor Technology and Electromechanics Segment with Two New Product Innovations

SBF AG, a listed specialist for innovative solutions in rolling stock, lighting, electromechanics, and sensor technology, is accelerating innovation in its “Sensor Technology and Electromechanics” business segment with two new product innovations. The enhanced Automatic Label Feeder (ALF) and the automatic optical inspection system INSPECT are both field-tested solutions developed in-house, now being commercialized for industrial customers with similar requirements. These products address the megatrends of automation and digitalization, potentially unlocking additional earnings potential for the company.

Robert Stocklinger, Member of the Management Board of SBF AG, highlighted the strategic importance: “We are now even better positioned for the future with these product developments. INSPECT takes quality assurance in electronics manufacturing to a new level of automation. Solutions with high customer value and clear efficiency potential are exactly the kind of innovation with which the SBF Group aims to grow.” He also emphasized the adaptability of the ALF technology, which has been expanded to label glass vials, opening new markets in pharmaceuticals, laboratory diagnostics, and fine chemicals.

The Automatic Label Feeder, originally developed for in-house electronics production, has become an independent product line due to strong customer demand. Its platform architecture allows flexible adaptation to different production processes, and with the latest enhancement, it can now handle fully automated labeling of glass vials. This expands ALF's applicability beyond electronics manufacturing, addressing industries with comparable labeling needs.

INSPECT, the new optical inspection system, automates quality inspection of electronic assemblies after SMD assembly. It uses a high-resolution camera to capture the assembled printed circuit board, with software that identifies fiducial marks, component positions, and orientations, and reads all standard barcode and 2D code formats. The system automatically documents inspection results and can be set up in minutes. Updates preserve calibration and operating data, and its robustness ensures reliable operation even during hardware failures.

These innovations exemplify SBF's development approach: technologies created to optimize internal manufacturing processes are brought to market maturity, creating additional sales and growth potential. By strengthening its product portfolio geared toward industrial customers, SBF reinforces its technological expertise in automation and digitalization, benefiting all its business segments.
