Santa Clarita Invests $1.2 Million in Intersection Safety Upgrades, Personal Injury Lawyer Highlights Importance

Santa Clarita is investing more than $1.2 million in federal funding to improve safety at three of its busiest intersections, a move that local personal injury attorney Barry P. Goldberg says addresses a critical need in the community. The funding, secured by Representative George Whitesides through Congress's annual budget process, was announced in May 2026 alongside Mayor Laurene Weste and city officials.

The upgrades will target Valencia Boulevard and Magic Mountain Parkway, McBean Parkway and Newhall Ranch Road, and Golden Valley Road and Centre Pointe Parkway—intersections that have seen a high number of collisions. According to city data, 73% of drivers were found at fault in collisions involving pedestrians in Santa Clarita in 2024. Additionally, bicycle collisions rose 14% over the prior year, and pedestrian- and bicycle-related incidents together climbed 18%.

“These intersections are where the most serious injuries happen,” said Barry P. Goldberg, founding attorney of the personal injury firm. “A driver running a red light or turning without looking can change a pedestrian's life in an instant. Infrastructure that helps drivers see the people crossing in front of them is a real step forward, and we're glad to see this kind of investment coming to our own community.”

The investment underscores the ongoing danger on Santa Clarita's roads, where pedestrian and intersection collisions remain a persistent threat. The funding will modernize traffic flow and pedestrian safety measures, potentially reducing the number of accidents that lead to serious injuries or fatalities.

Barry P. Goldberg's firm, which has been serving the Santa Clarita Valley for decades, offers free consultations to those injured in accidents. The firm handles cases on a contingency basis, meaning there are no upfront costs and no fees unless they recover for the client.
