Recruitment Operating System (ROS®) has announced the release of its updated and expanded Franchise Recruitment Manual, a resource designed to align with the operations of today's high-performing franchise recruitment teams. The manual, created in collaboration with FranMan, a leader in professional operating manuals, aims to merge proven recruitment principles with contemporary tools and best practices. This update marks the first significant revision since 2021, responding to the evolution of recruitment processes and technologies.
Art Coley, founder and CEO of ROS®, emphasized that while the fundamentals of franchise recruitment remain unchanged, the tools and data available to recruiters have advanced significantly. He stated, “What has changed are the tools, data, and technology available to recruiters. Our job is to bring those pieces together without making recruitment more complicated. We want to take an already powerful resource and make it even more relevant to how champion recruiters operate today.”
The manual serves as a practical framework for franchise sales and development teams, outlining recruiter roles and responsibilities and guiding candidates through ROS®'s proprietary 8-Step recruitment process. However, the pace and methods of recruiting have evolved, with recruiters now having access to expanded datasets, AI-driven technologies, and sophisticated candidate intelligence. The updated manual combines time-tested principles with these new capabilities, ensuring recruiters can perform at the highest level.
Key updates in the manual include a new section on Recruitment Analytics, which teaches recruiters how to use data and performance metrics to understand their pipeline and make better decisions. Another addition covers Artificial Intelligence, providing best practices for responsibly using AI to support recruitment efforts. The manual also expands on Recruiter Behaviors & Performance, moving beyond scripts to address daily, weekly, and monthly habits of high performers. Additionally, it now covers Different Types of Franchise Buyers, including multi-unit, institutional, and portfolio candidates, and strengthens guidance on Candidate Funding while keeping content vendor-neutral. The FDD & Recruitment Process Best Practices section has been expanded, and there is a new focus on Modern Learning & Content Integration, connecting the manual with ROS Academy™ and other digital resources.
Lennon Coley, VP of Analytics at ROS®, highlighted the importance of analytics in the update: “Historically, we’ve been very clear in our belief that analytics shouldn’t be limited to what you can access in an executive report - the information is far too valuable. We believe recruiters should have a crystal-clear understanding of their own numbers, including how they operate and where best to apply them. What we’ve accomplished by expanding our guidance in the analytics space is in tying their importance directly to recruiter behaviors and execution - which represents a significant step forward in the process.”
The updated manual advances industry best practices, policies, and operations while remaining faithful to core principles. It incorporates the latest developments in procedures, tools, and techniques, offering franchise recruitment professionals a holistic approach to continuous improvement.
