REPLOID Group AG has announced the consolidation of its fertilizer business into a dedicated company, REPLOID REGREEN GmbH, headquartered in Wels, Austria. The new entity will produce and market organic fertilizers derived from insect frass, a nutrient-rich by-product generated when Black Soldier Fly larvae process organic residues from the food industry. Managing Director Andreas Steinbüchler, who brings over 25 years of industry experience, will lead the company.
The spin-off is a strategic move to structure REPLOID's planned entry into the fertilizer market. The initial product launch is scheduled for fall 2026, featuring fertilizer sticks for potted plants. A lawn fertilizer and an agricultural fertilizer for commercial farming are expected to follow later the same year. The fertilizers will be sourced from REPLOID's own ReFarmUnits, ensuring a locally produced, circular solution.
Europe's fertilizer market is under structural pressure due to heavy reliance on imported mineral fertilizers, tightening regulations, and increasingly degraded soils. Organic fertilizers complement mineral ones by improving nutrient efficiency, building soil organic matter, and enhancing soil resilience to drought stress. This positions REPLOID REGREEN to meet rising demand for sustainable alternatives in agriculture and horticulture.
Andreas Steinbüchler, Managing Director of REPLOID REGREEN, emphasized the market opportunity: "Europe imports fertilizer while its soils are being depleted. Neither is a viable option in the long run. With REGREEN, we are deliberately building what has been missing: a regionally produced organic fertilizer that makes soils more fertile over the long term. With a focused company within the REPLOID Group, we gain the speed and agility to successfully develop the market with innovative products."
Philip Pauer, CEO and Founder of REPLOID Group AG, added: "With REGREEN, we are giving our fertilizer business its own, effective structure and, in Andreas Steinbüchler, a leader with many years of industry experience. This underscores that the fertilizer segment is a strategic growth pillar for us, with enormous scaling potential."
Andreas Steinbüchler has more than 15 years in leadership roles across sales, supply chain, and finance in the fertilizer industry, including serving as Chief Commercial Officer of LAT Nitrogen GmbH, Europe's second-largest fertilizer producer, from 2018 to 2023. He also served as President of the Fertilizers Europe association from 2021 to 2023.
REPLOID Group AG, founded in 2020, offers an innovative system for industrial utilization of regional organic residues. The company builds and services modular insect-rearing plants (ReFarmUnits) for customers, using Black Soldier Fly larvae to process food industry residues. The larvae are sold directly or processed into proteins and fats for animal feed, while the by-product insect frass is used for premium organic fertilizer. The company has been listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange's direct market plus segment since July 2025 (ticker symbol: HRX5) and employs over 190 people.
