Ability to Achieve Pty Limited, a registered NDIS provider, has significantly expanded its community participation and independent living support services across Sydney and Canberra, now reaching over 180 participants in both regions. This strategic move is designed to address service gaps for individuals with disability who require structured, person-centred support in their daily lives, particularly in areas where access to specialised care has been limited.
The expansion brings dedicated behavior support practitioners and community access teams to more participants across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. This growth responds to an increasing caseload and reflects the provider's commitment to delivering goal-directed support that keeps participants connected to their local communities. By strengthening NDIS community participation pathways, the provider enables individuals to engage in social, recreational, and civic activities alongside their peers, building capacity and maintaining meaningful routines outside the home.
A core component of the expanded model is independent living support, which assists participants in developing practical skills for greater autonomy. This includes support with daily tasks, decision-making, and navigating community environments—areas where consistent, skilled assistance can produce measurable outcomes over time. Additionally, community access support connects participants with local services, group activities, and social networks, ensuring they can pursue genuine community integration. Both Sydney and Canberra teams are structured to provide continuity, with participants working alongside consistent practitioners who are familiar with their individual goals and preferences.
One distinguishing element of this expansion is the integration of qualified behavior support practitioners within each multidisciplinary team. These practitioners assess needs, develop positive behavior support plans, and implement strategies that reduce restrictive practices, in line with NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements. This inclusion reflects a broader sector shift toward evidence-informed, rights-based care, allowing participants with complex behavior considerations to access specialised input without needing to engage a separate provider.
The service delivery is guided by a person-centred framework, where each participant's plan is developed collaboratively with them, their families, and allied health professionals. Support workers are equipped to work across various settings, including public transport, community venues, and social programs, ensuring flexibility and genuine community integration. With over 180 participants now receiving services, Ability to Achieve continues to accept new referrals from participants, plan managers, and support coordinators in both Sydney and Canberra, positioning itself to accommodate individuals at different stages of their NDIS journey.
