Quantum BioPharma Advances Multiple Sclerosis Therapy LUCID-MS into Phase 2 Trials

Quantum BioPharma Ltd. (NASDAQ: QNTM) (CSE: QNTM) is advancing its proprietary multiple sclerosis therapy candidate, LUCID-MS, into Phase 2 clinical development following promising Phase 1 results. The therapy is designed to target demyelination and protect or restore myelin integrity, offering a potentially first-in-class approach that directly addresses myelin loss and neurodegeneration rather than relying solely on immune modulation.

Phase 1 clinical studies in healthy volunteers demonstrated a favorable safety profile, with the therapy generally well tolerated. These results support advancement into patient-focused studies. In April 2026, Quantum BioPharma submitted an Investigational New Drug application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for LUCID-MS, paving the way for a planned Phase 2 clinical trial in people living with multiple sclerosis.

The company believes LUCID-MS may offer a differentiated approach because it aims to directly address myelin loss and neurodegeneration, a key underlying mechanism of multiple sclerosis. Preclinical models have shown that LUCID-MS can prevent and reverse myelin degradation. The company is strengthening operational support for the program through a planned partnership with Allucent and engagement with neurological specialists.

Quantum BioPharma is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to building a portfolio of innovative assets for the treatment of challenging neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders and alcohol misuse disorders. Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Lucid Psycheceuticals Inc., the company is focused on the research and development of LUCID-MS, a patented new chemical entity.

The company also invented unbuzzd and spun out its OTC version to a company, Unbuzzd Wellness Inc., led by industry veterans. Quantum BioPharma retains ownership of 19.84% (as of March 31, 2026) of UWI at www.unbuzzd.com. The agreement includes royalty payments of 7% of sales from unbuzzd until payments total $250 million, after which the royalty drops to 3% in perpetuity. Quantum BioPharma retains 100% of the rights to develop similar products for pharmaceutical and medical uses.

This advancement is significant for the thousands of people living with multiple sclerosis, a chronic condition that affects the central nervous system. Current therapies primarily focus on immune modulation, but LUCID-MS aims to directly repair myelin, potentially slowing or reversing disease progression. The positive Phase 1 safety data and the upcoming Phase 2 trial represent a critical step toward a new treatment option for patients.
