As presentation environments become increasingly technology-driven, traditional lecterns are facing new challenges. Presenters today often need to work with multiple displays, content sources, audio devices and control systems, while traditional lecterns typically provide little more than a physical workspace. Recognizing this gap, Returnstar Technology has launched the Q-NEX Smart Lectern SL100, an integrated digital podium designed to simplify presentation and AV operation in professional spaces. The SL100 brings together audience communication, content interaction and system control through an integrated three-screen design, offering a more cohesive solution for meeting rooms, training centers and seminar halls.
The SL100 addresses a common pain point: audience-facing information. In traditional setups, displaying meeting schedules or welcome messages often requires an additional screen or separate playback device. The SL100 integrates a dedicated 23.8-inch Full HD front-facing display into the lectern, providing a clear space for such content. This display can be updated locally via USB or remotely through a mobile app, eliminating the need for extra hardware and simplifying content management. This feature is particularly beneficial for organizations that frequently update event information across multiple spaces.
Presenter interaction is another area where the SL100 differentiates itself. Conventional lecterns often force presenters to rely on a connected laptop, mouse or separate interactive display for annotating or manipulating content. The SL100 combines a 23.8-inch interactive pen and touch display with a built-in Windows PC, allowing presenters to access and operate their materials directly from the lectern. It supports Microsoft Pen Protocol (MPP)-compatible pens, enabling natural writing and annotation. This integrated approach reduces dependency on external devices, providing a familiar and seamless presentation experience that can enhance engagement and efficiency.
AV control is also streamlined. Traditional systems often require separate interfaces or network-connected control systems to switch sources, adjust audio or operate devices. The SL100 consolidates key functions such as 3×3 matrix switching, device control, presentation timing and audio adjustment into an integrated control panel. Critically, these core local controls operate without an internet connection, ensuring reliability even in environments with complex or unstable network configurations. This makes deployment easier and guarantees that essential controls remain functional during presentations.
For organizations managing multiple presentation spaces, the SL100 offers a significant advantage through integration with the Q-NEX Platform. This integration enables remote management via a web console or mobile app, allowing administrators to oversee the lectern and supported connected devices from a central location. This capability is particularly valuable for IT teams responsible for maintaining technology across numerous rooms, as it reduces the need for on-site visits and simplifies routine updates and troubleshooting.
The SL100 is part of Q-NEX's digital podium series, which includes the NDP200 and NDP600 for campus environments. The freestanding NDP200 suits larger spaces like auditoriums and lecture halls, while the desktop NDP600 is designed for classrooms with existing lecterns. The SL100, with its front-facing digital signage and network-independent control panel, targets formal presentation environments such as executive meeting rooms, professional training spaces and seminar halls. Despite their different applications, all Q-NEX Digital Podiums share an integrated approach, uniting presentation, AV control, interaction and device management into a unified podium. By connecting these functions into one coordinated solution, Q-NEX aims to simplify operations and improve technology management, helping organizations build more efficient, connected and future-ready presentation environments.
