Puerto Rico's Day at the Ballpark is set to bring its celebration of Puerto Rican baseball heritage to three more Major League ballparks this August, continuing a series that has grown into a national tribute since its inception in 2023. Presented by Discover Puerto Rico and produced by 21 Events, the events will take place at Coors Field in Colorado on August 18, Rate Field in Chicago on August 22, and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on August 23.
Each stop will feature unique in-stadium experiences, player recognitions, and Puerto Rico-themed elements designed to honor the island's profound impact on America's pastime. At Coors Field, the Colorado Rockies will host the celebration, recognizing infielder Willi Castro and Coach Andy González. The program includes a ceremonial first pitch by Benjamin Oaks, owner of Aguanile, Denver's first Puerto Rican dinner club, along with on-field presentations, scoreboard features, and fan engagement activities.
In Chicago, the series will honor legendary pitcher Roberto Hernandez during a game between the New York Mets and the Chicago White Sox. Award-winning Puerto Rican chef Monti Carlo will throw the first pitch, and fans can expect a range of activations celebrating Puerto Rico's baseball legacy. The Los Angeles stop at Dodger Stadium will recognize Kiké Hernández and Edwin Diaz, with former Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2020 Estefanía Soto delivering the ceremonial first pitch.
All three events will include a 60-second scoreboard video showcasing the beauty and heritage of Puerto Rico, offering fans a glimpse of the island's appeal beyond baseball. Jorge L. Pérez, CEO of Discover Puerto Rico, emphasized the deep-rooted connection between Puerto Rico and the sport, noting that Carlos Beltrán recently became the sixth Puerto Rican inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, further solidifying the island's enduring legacy.
Beyond the celebrations, the series provides fans an opportunity to experience Puerto Rico firsthand through the Ballpark to Island Giveaway. This contest offers a trip for two, including airfare, hotel accommodations, and special experiences. Entry is open to U.S. residents 18 and over with no purchase necessary, and fans can participate by visiting discoverpuertorico.com/ballpark-to-island.
Ralph Paniagua, Managing Director of 21 Events, highlighted the series' ability to tell diverse stories across different cities, emphasizing that Puerto Rico's baseball history spans multiple generations and ballparks. The events aim to recognize these contributions in front of the fans and communities that cherish them, with Colorado, Chicago, and Los Angeles each providing a new opportunity to celebrate that history.
Since its debut, Puerto Rico's Day at the Ballpark has become a signature national series, and following the August events, the 2026 series will continue into September with its final scheduled stop. The initiative not only honors the island's baseball heroes but also promotes Puerto Rico as a premier travel destination, blending sports, culture, and tourism in a unique celebration.
