Pam Skehan Paintings Selected by Met Museum Curator for Louisiana Contemporary Exhibition

Two paintings by artist Pam Skehan, currently displayed at Wine Art Gallery in New Orleans, have been selected for the Louisiana Contemporary exhibition at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. The annual juried show, now in its 15th year, is presented by The Helis Foundation and celebrates artists living in Louisiana. Juror Sarah Jones, Lulu C. and Anthony W. Wang Head of Live Arts at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, chose 50 works by 45 artists from over 1,786 submissions.

Skehan's paintings, 'Woman in Waiting' and 'Tipping Point,' are among the selected pieces. The Louisiana Contemporary exhibition runs from August 1, 2026, to February 14, 2027, at the Ogden Museum, located at https://ogdenmuseum.org/exhibition/louisiana-contemporary-2018/.

Since its launch in 2012, Louisiana Contemporary has featured work by more than 650 artists, establishing itself as a significant event on the national arts calendar. The exhibition recognizes and celebrates the breadth of creative voices emerging from New Orleans and arts communities throughout Louisiana.

Wine Art Gallery, where Skehan's paintings are currently on view, aims to give back to emerging artists while honoring the history of New Orleans. The gallery actively seeks local talent and international artists, with over 80% of its represented artists being female and underrepresented. Wine Art Gallery is located on Gallery Row in the Arts District of New Orleans, near Michelin-starred restaurants Emeril's and Peche.
