Oregen Energy Appoints Former Impact Oil & Gas Executive Philip Birch as Strategic Advisor

Oregen Energy Corp. (CSE: ORNG) (OTCQB: ORGEF) (FSE: A1S0) has appointed petroleum geoscientist Philip Birch as strategic advisor as the company evaluates a potential investment in Namibia’s offshore Block 2812Ab in the Orange Basin. Birch, a former exploration director at Impact Oil & Gas, played a key role in identifying and advancing the Venus prospect prior to its successful drilling by TotalEnergies. Oregen said his expertise will support exploration strategy, subsurface evaluation and technical positioning related to the block, which sits adjacent to the Venus discovery within the same proven petroleum fairway.

The appointment underscores Oregen’s focus on the Orange Basin, an emerging world-class petroleum province with multiple recent discoveries by major operators. Oregen is an investment company primarily focused on oil and gas assets in Africa. Its current flagship investment is a 33.95% net interest in Block 2712A in the Orange Basin offshore Namibia. The company is actively exploring other investment opportunities in the Orange and surrounding basins.

Birch’s experience is particularly valuable given his direct involvement in the Venus discovery, one of the largest oil finds in Africa in recent years. His technical acumen could prove instrumental in assessing the potential of Block 2812Ab, which is located in a proven petroleum system. The move signals Oregen’s intention to expand its footprint in the region, potentially leveraging Birch’s insights to make informed investment decisions.

The announcement comes amid growing interest in Namibia’s offshore oil and gas sector, following discoveries by TotalEnergies and Shell. Oregen’s existing stake in Block 2712A positions it to benefit from further exploration success in the basin. The addition of Birch to its advisory team enhances the company’s technical capabilities and could accelerate its evaluation of new opportunities.
