Onco-Innovations Limited (CBOE CA: ONCO) (OTCQB: ONNVF) has announced the initiation of polymer process development and analytical characterization activities by Nanosoft Polymers in support of ONC010, the company’s lead nanoparticle-formulated Polynucleotide Kinase Phosphatase (PNKP) inhibitor. The collaboration is intended to establish a scalable, reproducible and analytically characterized polymer platform to support future formulation, manufacturing, regulatory and clinical development, according to the company.
The work includes polymer synthesis optimization, characterization methodology development, molecular weight assessment, purification strategy refinement and manufacturing scalability assessments as part of Onco-Innovations’ chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC) strategy. Onco-Innovations said Nanosoft’s expertise in polymer science and nanoparticle drug delivery is expected to strengthen the technical foundation of the ONC010 platform while supporting future GMP manufacturing readiness.
ONC010 is a nanoparticle-formulated inhibitor of PNKP, an enzyme involved in DNA repair pathways that cancer cells often exploit to survive treatment. By inhibiting PNKP, ONC010 may enhance the efficacy of DNA-damaging therapies such as radiation and certain chemotherapies. The nanoparticle formulation is designed to improve drug delivery and targeting, potentially reducing systemic toxicity.
“This collaboration with Nanosoft represents a critical step in advancing ONC010 toward clinical development,” said a spokesperson for Onco-Innovations. “By focusing on scalable and reproducible manufacturing processes, we aim to ensure that our nanoparticle platform can meet regulatory standards and be efficiently produced for future trials.”
Onco-Innovations is a Canadian-based company dedicated to cancer research and treatment, specializing in oncology. The company has secured an exclusive worldwide license to patented technology that targets solid tumors.
