Nordex Group Secures 82 MW Orders for Citizen Wind Projects in Lower Saxony

The Nordex Group has received orders from the EFG Energy Farming Group to supply and install twelve wind turbines for citizen wind projects in Lower Saxony, Germany. The projects, "Erlte-Endel" in Vechta district and "Bad Essen" in Osnabrück district, will have a combined capacity of approximately 82 MW. Each contract includes a 20-year Premium Service agreement.

For the Erlte-Endel wind farm, Nordex will deliver five N175/6.X turbines on hybrid towers with a hub height of 179 meters. The Bad Essen cluster will feature seven turbines: five N175/6.X on 179-meter towers and two N163/6.X with a hub height of 164 meters. This cluster comprises four projects: Langewiesen-Nord, Langewiesen-Süd, Rabber Wiesen, and the Wimmerbruch repowering project.

Construction is set to begin at the end of 2026, with turbine installation planned for 2027 and commissioning scheduled for spring 2028. The wind farms, developed by EFG Energy Farming Group, will be operated by landowners and regional citizen wind companies.

Reiner Borgmeyer, Managing Director of EFG Energy-Farming Holding GmbH, emphasized the projects' role in demonstrating how wind energy and regional value creation can coexist. "Landowners and community energy companies have been involved from the outset, ensuring that the energy transition remains firmly anchored locally," he said.

Karsten Brüggemann, Vice President Region Europe of the Nordex Group, highlighted the partnership's significance: "These two projects are exemplary of the successful combination of regional commitment and modern wind energy technology. Together with our long-standing customer, we are creating wind farms that not only make an important contribution to the energy transition, but also enable reliable and sustainable electricity generation for many years to come thanks to their high efficiency."

The orders underscore the importance of community-owned renewable energy projects in Germany, which are seen as crucial for local acceptance and the country's ambitious climate goals. By involving local stakeholders, these projects help distribute the economic benefits of wind energy more equitably, addressing concerns about NIMBYism and grid integration.

Nordex Group has installed over 64 GW of wind power capacity in more than 40 markets since 1985 and generated consolidated sales of around EUR 7.6 billion in 2025. The company's product portfolio focuses on onshore turbines in the 4 to 7 MW+ classes, designed for markets with limited space or constrained grid capacity.
