Nordex Group Secures 77 MW Order for Romanian Wind Farm from OX2

HAMBURG, GERMANY - Nordex Group has received an order from Swedish renewable energy developer OX2 to supply and install 11 N175/6.X turbines for the Urleasca wind farm in Romania. The contract covers a total installed capacity of 77 MW and includes a 35-year Premium Service agreement, ensuring long-term operational support.

In parallel, OX2 has sold the ready-to-build Urleasca project to Norwegian renewable energy solutions provider Scatec ASA. OX2 will oversee the entire construction phase, which is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with commissioning planned for the second half of 2028. The wind farm holds a long-term Contract-for-Difference (CfD) with the Romanian State, providing revenue stability.

The Urleasca wind farm will be located near the village of Urleasca in Brăila County, approximately 150 kilometers northeast of Bucharest in southeastern Romania. This region is recognized for its favorable wind conditions, making it an attractive site for wind energy development.

"We are delighted to further strengthen our transnational cooperation with OX2 – this time in Romania. The country continues to offer attractive opportunities for the deployment of modern wind energy technology. By combining OX2’s international project development expertise with our latest N175/6.X technology, all companies will deliver efficient and competitive renewable electricity to the Romanian market," said Slava Feklin, Country Manager Romania and Ukraine of the Nordex Group.

This project further strengthens Nordex Group's position in Romania, where the company has contracted more than 500 MW in recent months. The N175/6.X turbine is part of Nordex's 6 MW platform, designed for low to medium wind speed sites, offering high energy yield and efficiency.

The order underscores the growing momentum in Romania's renewable energy sector, driven by supportive government policies and the need to diversify energy sources. The CfD mechanism provides a stable revenue stream, mitigating market price volatility and facilitating project financing.

For OX2, this transaction marks another step in its strategy to expand its presence in emerging markets. The company is a leading renewable energy developer with a diverse portfolio across onshore and offshore wind, solar, and storage, totaling about 33 GW. OX2 operates in five European markets and Australia, and is owned by EQT, one of the world’s largest private equity investors.

For Nordex Group, the order reinforces its commitment to the Romanian market and its competitiveness in the region. The company has installed over 64 GW of wind power capacity in more than 40 markets since 1985 and offers a product portfolio focused on onshore turbines in the 4 to 7 MW+ classes.

The Urleasca wind farm is expected to contribute significantly to Romania's renewable energy targets, providing clean electricity to the grid and reducing carbon emissions. With construction set to begin next year, the project is poised to create local jobs and support the economic development of the Brăila County area.
