Noble Mineral Exploration Inc. has announced plans for a 2,500- to 3,000-meter drill program on its Lucas Gold Project, located approximately 30 km north of Timmins, Ontario, a region that has produced more than 75 million ounces of gold. The program is backed by a $215,000 Ontario Junior Exploration Program (OJEP) grant, highlighting government support for early-stage exploration in the province. However, a recent site visit determined that a winter road must be established to provide heavy equipment access, requiring time for a stable, deep frozen base. This infrastructure delay is a key operational risk but also underscores the project's remote yet accessible location via paved Highway 655.
The Lucas project sits in a prolific mining camp: it is 20 km northeast of the Kidd Creek Mine, which is celebrating 58 years of continuous production with over 150 million tonnes of ore, and about 20 km east of the Crawford Nickel Resource being developed by Canada Nickel. Full industry services, supplies, and infrastructure are available in Timmins, with ample access to power and water. Noble has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with local First Nations, securing social license and reducing permitting risks. These factors position Lucas as a strategically located asset in a tier-one jurisdiction.
Historical work on the project includes 15 NQ diamond drill holes totaling 3,184 meters in 2018, covering approximately 650 meters of strike length of a 1,700-meter gold-mineralized structure identified from airborne electromagnetic and magnetic surveys. Noble twinned three historical drill holes and located 37 historical collars, but no further work has been done since 2018. The project hosts six discrete untested induced polarization (IP) anomalous trends, only one of which has been drill-tested. Gold mineralization is interpreted as structurally controlled, occurring as discrete lenses within a pyrite-gold tuffaceous unit. This suggests significant exploration upside beyond the known zone.
The development plan is divided into three phases: Phase 1 aims to establish gold grade and extend the mineralized strike length to approximately 1,700 meters; Phase 2 will test the five undrilled parallel IP anomalies for similar mineralization; and Phase 3 involves geological modeling and an NI 43-101 resource definition. The upcoming drill program will focus on IP Anomaly A to further define gold mineralization. For investors, the combination of a drill-ready target, government funding, and a clear path to resource definition could create near-term catalysts. The technical content has been reviewed and approved by Wayne Holmstead, P.Geo., an independent Qualified Person under NI 43-101. Detailed figures and tables are available: Figure 1: General Location Map with Local Infrastructure, Figure 2: Drill Holes and Trend of Mineralized Zone on Magnetic Background, Figure 3: 2018 Drilling Plan with Outline of Mineralized Zone Projected to Surface, and Figure 4: Plan of Induced Polarization Zones Projected to Surface with Collars of 2018 Drilling and Magnetic Background. Additionally, gold intersections from the 2018 program are shown in Part 1 of Table 1 and Part 2 of Table 1. The original release is available at www.newmediawire.com.
