Nicola Mining Inc. (NASDAQ: NICM) (TSX.V: NIM) (FSE: HLIA) and Ocean Partners UK Limited have each committed $5 million to Blue Lagoon Resources (CSE: BLLG), totaling $10 million in financing. This funding is earmarked to support continued development and the production ramp-up of Blue Lagoon's 100%-owned Dome Mountain Gold and Silver Project near Smithers, British Columbia, with a targeted production rate of 150 to 200 tonnes per day. Nicola completed its investment through a private placement at $0.60 per share, acquiring 8,333,333 common shares.
The investment builds on Nicola's previous $1 million investment in Blue Lagoon completed in January 2024, while Ocean Partners has now committed a total of $8 million to Blue Lagoon. Nicola stated that this financing also strengthens the relationship among mine development, concentrate marketing, and milling infrastructure. The company's wholly owned Merritt Mill is expected to play an increasingly important role as Blue Lagoon advances production.
This strategic move underscores the growing collaboration between mining companies and financiers to de-risk and accelerate precious metals projects. By securing a combined $10 million, Blue Lagoon is better positioned to achieve its production targets, which could have positive implications for the regional mining sector in British Columbia. For Nicola Mining, this investment not only diversifies its portfolio but also solidifies its position as a key partner in the development of high-grade gold projects, leveraging its milling capabilities.
The announcement comes at a time when gold prices remain strong, making investments in gold and silver projects particularly attractive. The Dome Mountain project's proximity to Nicola's Merritt Mill is a logistical advantage, potentially reducing transportation costs and processing times. This synergy could enhance the overall economics of the project.
Investors and industry observers will be watching closely to see if Blue Lagoon can meet its production targets and how this partnership evolves. The involvement of Ocean Partners, a well-known commodity trader, adds another layer of credibility and market access for the project's output.
