Nevada Organic Phosphate Inc. (CSE: NOP) (OTCQB: NOPFF) has begun its 2026 exploration program at the Murdock Mountain Phosphate Project in northeastern Nevada, as the company seeks to advance one of the few known large-scale organic sedimentary phosphate target zones in North America. The announcement comes amid tightening global fertilizer supply, including LPG disruptions linked to instability in the Persian Gulf, which may increase interest in phosphate projects that do not rely heavily on fossil-fuel-based inputs.
The company announced on April 13 that all required wildlife and sage-grouse lek pre-clearance surveys tied to its exploration permit have been completed without issue, allowing site preparation to continue. The bulldozer contractor has returned to complete the remaining drill pads, after which drilling will commence to expand understanding of the phosphate zone's strike extent, thickness, continuity and grade characteristics.
Murdock Mountain is a shallow-dipping, road-accessible sedimentary phosphate target zone that could support direct-application organic fertilizer production without chemical processing. This feature is particularly important as the organic and regenerative farming sectors grow in the U.S. agricultural market. Nevada Organic Phosphate is targeting these sectors, aiming to provide a domestic source of organic phosphate fertilizer.
The 2026 drill campaign builds on previous work at the project. The company is preparing additional drill pads to further delineate the resource. The project's location in Nevada offers logistical advantages, with road access and proximity to agricultural markets in the western United States.
Global fertilizer supply has been under pressure due to various factors, including geopolitical tensions and disruptions in the Persian Gulf, which have affected LPG supplies used in fertilizer production. This has highlighted the need for alternative sources of phosphate that are less dependent on fossil fuels. Nevada Organic Phosphate's project could help meet this need by providing organic phosphate that can be applied directly to soil without chemical processing, reducing environmental impact and reliance on imported fertilizers.
The company is a B.C.-based leader in organic sedimentary phosphate exploration. Its focus on organic phosphate aligns with the broader trend toward sustainable agriculture and organic farming. As farmers seek to improve soil health and reduce chemical inputs, the demand for organic fertilizers is expected to grow.
