When Kelli Hull moved back to Texas after nearly two decades in Washington, D.C., she quickly identified a gap in the local retail market: Hill Country women had limited access to contemporary designer clothing without a lengthy drive to San Antonio. To address this, Hull opened Monkee's of Fair Oaks Ranch, a veteran-owned women's boutique in the Lemon Creek Ranch development serving Fair Oaks Ranch and Boerne.
Hull, a Texas A&M graduate, spent nearly 20 years in government contracting before deciding to pursue her dream of boutique ownership. The Monkee's franchise, based in North Carolina, allows small storefronts to carry major contemporary brands through collective buying power. As Hull explained, 'Because we're a franchise, the buying power the franchisees have together is significant.' Monkee's of Fair Oaks Ranch is the eighth location in Texas and roughly the 67th nationwide.
The boutique spans just over 1,200 square feet, reflecting the franchise's signature small footprint and curated approach. It carries contemporary designers across a range of price points, enabling customers to shop from day to night without leaving the Hill Country. Hull emphasizes a personal touch, stating, 'It's my solemn vow that I'll never let anyone leave Monkee's of Fair Oaks Ranch in something that doesn't look phenomenal on them.'
As a veteran-owned business in Military City USA, the store plans to support the military community, with initiatives to be announced later. Customers can follow the boutique on Instagram for updates on brands and events. More information is available at monkeesoffairoaks.com, with online shopping expected in 2027.
This opening addresses a significant market need, providing Hill Country women with convenient access to contemporary fashion and a personalized shopping experience, all while supporting a veteran entrepreneur.
