MAX Power Mining Corp. Appoints Tony Van Burgsteden as CFO, Advancing Natural Hydrogen Platform

MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FRANKFURT: 89N) announced the appointment of Tony Van Burgsteden as chief financial officer, effective immediately, as the company advances toward commercial evaluation of its Saskatchewan Natural Hydrogen platform. Van Burgsteden, a member of the company’s board and former CFO of Orano Canada, succeeds Ryan Cheung, who has served as CFO since June 2025.

The appointment comes at a critical juncture for MAX Power, which recently confirmed Canada’s first-ever subsurface Natural Hydrogen system through deep drilling at its Lawson Discovery near Central Butte, Saskatchewan. The discovery, validated by three independent labs, positions the company at the forefront of the emerging natural hydrogen sector. Natural hydrogen, also known as white or gold hydrogen, is a potentially low-cost, carbon-free energy source that could play a significant role in decarbonization.

MAX Power has built a dominant district-scale land position across Saskatchewan, holding approximately 1.3 million acres (521,000 hectares) of permits, with an additional 5.7 million acres under application. This extensive land package covers prime exploration ground prospective for large-volume accumulations of Natural Hydrogen. The company’s U.S. subsidiary also holds a portfolio of properties, including the 100%-owned Willcox Playa Lithium Project in southeast Arizona, where a 2024 diamond drilling discovery highlighted the company’s focus on critical minerals.

Van Burgsteden brings extensive financial and executive experience in the mining and energy sectors. His previous role as CFO of Orano Canada, a major uranium producer, underscores his expertise in managing large-scale resource projects. MAX Power’s CEO highlighted that Van Burgsteden’s deep industry knowledge and familiarity with the company’s operations will be invaluable as it moves toward commercial evaluation and potential development.

The company is committed to responsible exploration and development practices that prioritize environmental stewardship, meaningful community engagement, and strong corporate governance. As MAX Power advances its Natural Hydrogen platform, the appointment of a seasoned CFO signals readiness to attract investment and scale operations.
