The Martial Arts History Museum has officially been accepted into the Blue Star Museums program, a national initiative led by the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Blue Star Families and the Department of Defense. This program typically offers free summer admission to active-duty military personnel and their families at thousands of cultural venues across the country. However, the museum is going above and beyond by extending this benefit to free, unlimited year-round admission for eligible service members and up to five family members.
This decision reflects the museum's deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by military families. Eligible individuals include active-duty members of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Space Force, National Guard, and Reserves, as well as the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps and NOAA Commissioned Corps. By removing barriers to cultural and historical education, the museum aims to create an inviting space where military families can build lasting memories together.
Museum President Michael Matsuda emphasized the personal significance of this initiative, noting his family's own military history. His father served in the military, and his father-in-law was a member of the renowned 442nd Regimental Combat Team during World War II. "These amazing people continue to put their lives on the line every single day for all of us," Matsuda said. "They sacrifice so much for our freedom, and providing this year-round opportunity is truly the least we can do to give back and honor our military families."
The Martial Arts History Museum, located at 201 N. Brand Blvd., B100, Glendale, CA 91203, offers visitors a unique look into the history, art, and cultural heritage of martial arts. The museum encourages donations to support its mission. For more information, visit MAmuseum.com or view the original announcement on NewMediaWire.
This expanded access underscores the museum's commitment to honoring those who serve, ensuring that military families can enjoy its exhibits throughout the year, not just during the summer months. As a Blue Star Museum, it joins a nationwide network of cultural institutions dedicated to showing gratitude to the brave individuals who protect our nation.
