LION Smart, a company of the LION E-Mobility Group, has been awarded the TOP 100 Seal 2026, recognizing it as one of Germany's most innovative mid-sized businesses. The company, which operates in the field of intelligent energy storage and battery solutions, impressed in a scientific selection process that assessed over 100 criteria across five categories: innovation-oriented top management, innovation climate, innovation processes and organisation, external orientation/open innovation, and innovation success. The selection process was conducted by innovation researcher Professor Nikolaus Franke and his team on behalf of compamedia, the organiser of the competition.

The company sees the TOP 100 Seal as recognition of its achievements and an incentive to contribute to the energy transition with further innovative storage solutions.
The TOP 100 competition, which has been running since 1993, awards the seal to mid-sized companies for outstanding innovative strength and above-average innovation success. In the current 33rd round, 356 mid-sized companies applied, with 282 successful. A maximum of 100 companies are recognized in each size category: up to 50 employees, 51 to 200 employees, and more than 200 employees. The award ceremony will take place during the German SME Summit on 26 June in Heidelberg, where former Federal President Christian Wulff will personally congratulate the winners. Wulff serves as mentor to the TOP 100 innovation competition.
LION Smart, which has been entitled to carry the TOP 100 Seal since 1 February, emphasizes the close integration of research, development, and customer requirements. The company develops new solutions with a view to real-world applications and future market needs.
