Lahontan Gold Corp. Advances Santa Fe Project with Promising Drilling Results and PEA Update

Lahontan Gold Corp. (TSX.V: LG) (OTCQB: LGCXF) has released initial assays from its maiden reverse-circulation drilling program at the satellite West Santa Fe project, located approximately 13 kilometers from the company’s flagship Santa Fe Mine project in Nevada. The results underscore the potential for resource growth, as the first of six drill holes intersected shallow, oxide gold mineralization consistent with historical data. Management explicitly tied these results to validating the historical database for future resource estimation work, a key step toward advancing the project.

The company has also retained RESPEC Company LLC and Kappes, Cassiday & Associates to update the Santa Fe Mine Project technical report, including a mineral resource estimate and preliminary economic assessment (PEA). This formal update process signals a clear path to updated economics, which could be the combination that moves Lahontan from a development story to an investment-grade strategy. The near-surface oxide gold intercepts are particularly significant because they are amenable to low-cost heap leach processing, a method that could enhance project economics.

The drilling program at West Santa Fe is part of Lahontan’s broader effort to expand the resource base at Santa Fe, which already hosts a historic resource. The company has completed 593 meters of reverse-circulation drilling to date, with assays from additional holes pending. The focus on shallow, oxide mineralization reduces exploration risk and speeds up the timeline to potential resource updates. By integrating the West Santa Fe results with the main Santa Fe deposit, Lahontan aims to demonstrate scale and continuity that could attract strategic partners or financing.

Investors should note that the PEA update will provide a fresh look at the project’s economics, incorporating recent drilling data and current gold prices. The involvement of respected consultants like RESPEC and Kappas, Cassiday adds credibility to the process. For a junior miner, repeatable shallow oxide drill success and a clear path to updated economics can be the catalyst that moves the stock from story to strategy. Further updates are expected as drilling continues and the technical report progresses.
