Kevin McManus Law has announced Aubrey Schwartze as the recipient of the 2025 Kevin McManus Overcoming Adversity Through Sports Scholarship. The $2,000 award recognizes her academic excellence, dedication to athletics, and ability to overcome physical and emotional setbacks, as detailed in her winning essay.
Schwartze, a senior at Vienna High School, wrote about her lifelong connection to basketball, from growing up in the gym with her father—a high school basketball coach—to facing injuries and mental hurdles. Her essay drew inspiration from a childhood song in Barbie: A Princess and the Pauper, reflecting on how adversity shaped her character and reinforced that destiny is written in the heart.
On the court, Schwartze made school history as the first student to score 1,500 career points and record 1,000 career rebounds. She also coaches a fourth-grade girls' basketball team, demonstrating leadership beyond her own performance.
Her leadership extends into the community. Schwartze serves as president of her school's National Honor Society chapter and Senior Class President. She volunteers at blood drives, the local food pantry, and organizes the annual Veterans' Day assembly. Her record reflects consistent service and initiative.
Academically driven, Schwartze plans to attend the University of Central Missouri to pursue a degree in radiologic technology. After graduation, she hopes to work in a sports injury and medicine clinic, helping athletes recover and return to their sports. She also intends to continue mentoring young athletes.
The Kevin McManus Overcoming Adversity Through Sports Scholarship reflects the core values of Kevin McManus Law: standing beside individuals when life changes unexpectedly. Just as the firm represents injury victims navigating difficult circumstances, this scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate determination in the face of adversity.
Kevin McManus Law congratulates Aubrey Schwartze on this well-deserved achievement. The team looks forward to her continued success in college, her career, and her ongoing efforts to inspire others.
