Kaufman & Company Launches Eight Brands to Define Its Expanding Platform

Kaufman & Company, the permanent capital holding company founded by Daniel Kaufman, has unveiled eight new brands that will serve as the public face of its design, construction, and operations across all asset classes. The brands—Haven, Foundry, Trellis, Convivium, Everwell, District, Weekender, and ZeroPoint—are grouped into three categories: Residential, Places, and Infrastructure. The launch represents a significant step in the evolution of the Kaufman & Company platform, which now encompasses ten operating companies involved in residential development, workforce housing, AI infrastructure, and venture capital. Over the next twelve months, every asset in the company’s current portfolio and future pipeline will be rebranded under the appropriate brand, with several pipeline communities already transitioned.

The decision to create these brands stems from the platform’s growth and the need to better communicate with diverse audiences. As the company expanded to ten operating companies, the names on legal documents no longer reflected how residents, partners, and cities experience the work. A family seeking an attainable home, a nurse looking for an apartment near the hospital, a retiree interested in an active community, and a hyperscale tenant needing power and capacity all have distinct needs. The brands provide each audience with a clear answer about what they are getting, before they need to know which entity built it. Each brand represents a community or asset class focus, not a separate legal entity, and is endorsed by Kaufman & Company. The development discipline, balance sheet, and long-term ownership behind every address remain consistent, as the ten operating companies continue as the builders and operators.

“We have been building across almost every asset class at once, and the work deserved names that say what it is,” said Daniel Kaufman, Founder and CEO of Kaufman & Company. “A Haven community, a Foundry community and a ZeroPoint campus solve very different problems. Our operating companies still do the building. The brands tell residents, partners and cities what they can count on from us, wherever we show up.”

The Residential category includes Haven, which focuses on attainable housing and operates under Design Build Affordable; Foundry, which builds workforce housing communities near employment centers and is operated by DanReDev; Trellis, the scalable middle market brand for townhomes and build-to-rent neighborhoods, operated by Kaufman Development; Convivium, a vertically integrated co-living and co-working platform; and Everwell, the active adult and independent living brand operated by Lonestar Kaufman. The Places category features District, which creates mixed-use destinations and is operated by Forge Development Partners, and Weekender, a design-driven hospitality brand operated by DEK Builds. The Infrastructure category is represented by ZeroPoint, the institutional brand for AI infrastructure, operated by Kaufman Development, with its first deployment, Project Zero, a working distributed micro data center prototype in Detroit, Michigan.

The brand rollout will continue over the next twelve months, with all assets rebranded, including signage, websites, marketing materials, and resident-facing communications. Several pipeline communities have already adopted their new brands, such as Haven at Shelburne, Foundry’s Falls Landing, Trellis’s Greenview Residences, and Everwell at Harpeth Reserve. New opportunities entering the pipeline will launch under a brand from day one. The ten operating companies remain the builders and operators, and existing partners, lenders, and municipal relationships continue unchanged.

“The rollout is going to take a year because we want to get it right, one community at a time,” said Kaufman. “By this time next year, anyone who drives past one of our properties, visits one of our sites or partners with us on a deal should be able to tell exactly what we built and who we built it for.”

This strategic branding initiative is important because it positions Kaufman & Company to better serve its diverse stakeholders while maintaining operational consistency. By clearly defining each brand’s purpose, the company enhances transparency and marketability, which could attract more partners and residents. It also reflects a broader trend in real estate where companies seek to differentiate their offerings in a crowded market. As Kaufman & Company continues to expand across 24 states, these brands will play a crucial role in communicating its value proposition and ensuring long-term growth.
