The Jollibee Group announced record second-quarter results for 2026, with net income attributable to equity holders of the parent company rising 5.7% year over year to Php3.4 billion (approximately US$55 million), the highest quarterly net income on record. The performance reflects a clear margin recovery from first-quarter cost pressures, supported by pricing actions implemented beginning in April, productivity improvements, and sustained consumer demand across its global brand portfolio.
System-wide sales increased 14.2% year over year, driven by continued growth in the Philippines and international markets. The company's global store network expanded 6.4% to 10,767 stores across 33 countries. North America emerged as a key growth driver, with Jollibee's system-wide sales up 21.6% and same-store sales up 8.6%, while Smashburger posted same-store sales growth of 7.0%. These results underscore the momentum in one of the group's most important international markets.
Canada is becoming a focal point for expansion. Jollibee announced plans to add 26 new locations in British Columbia and Edmonton, complementing its existing 28 restaurants in the country. If completed, these commitments would nearly double Jollibee's Canadian network over the next five years, laying the groundwork for further growth across the nation.
Ernesto Tanmantiong, Global Chief Executive Officer of JFC, said, "Our second-quarter results demonstrate the continued strength of the Jollibee Group's global brand portfolio and the resilience of consumer demand across our key markets. We delivered healthy system-wide sales growth across all regions, supported by strong contributions from both our Philippine and international businesses." He added that the company remains focused on serving more customers, strengthening its brands, and creating sustainable long-term value.
The sequential recovery from the first quarter was notable. Consolidated revenues increased 12.2% versus Q1 2026, gross profit rose 25.3%, operating income jumped 56.1%, and net income attributable to equity holders more than doubled. Gross profit margin improved to 18.5% in Q2 from 16.5% in Q1, with further improvement from 17.3% in April to 19.0% in June. Operating income margin reached 7.2% in Q2, up from 5.2% in Q1, while net income margin nearly doubled to 4.0%.
Richard Shin, Chief Financial and Risk Officer, commented on the recovery: "Pricing actions implemented beginning in April, together with productivity, sourcing, and cost discipline initiatives, contributed to the recovery in gross profit margins and supported stronger operating income and NIAT margins." He noted that transition-related costs for Yonghe King and Smashburger, totaling Php239.0 million, are part of the ongoing shift toward predominantly franchised models, which are expected to strengthen long-term profitability.
Year-on-year, the international segment expanded system-wide sales by 25.4%, led by Highlands Coffee (+46.7%), Compose Coffee (+39.7%), EMEAA Jollibee and Chowking (+25.3%), Tim Ho Wan (+23.0%), and Jollibee North America (+21.6%). The Philippine business grew system-wide sales by 5.7%, with Mang Inasal up 10.7% and Jollibee up 6.6%. Same-store sales growth for the quarter was 2.7%, with international up 4.4% and Philippines up 1.3%.
Looking ahead, the Jollibee Group maintained its guidance for system-wide sales growth of 8%-12% and store network growth of 5%-10% for full-year 2026, while revising same-store sales growth guidance to 3%-4% and gross new store openings to 1,000-1,100 stores. Operating income growth is now expected to be 10%-15%, reflecting updated assumptions and ongoing portfolio optimization. Capital expenditures are projected at Php13.0-15.0 billion.
In other developments, Jollibee Vietnam has become a standout performer, achieving system-wide sales growth of 47.6% and same-store sales growth of 17.9% in Q2, with store payback of less than four years. In China, the franchise ratio has increased to 62% from 14% in 2016, with Yonghe King targeting 70% by the end of 2026. The group's achievements were recognized by TIME's 100 Most Influential Companies and Fortune's Southeast Asia 500 list, among others.
