The inaugural Chinatown Creator Awards, held on August 27 at COYA Living, drew an over-capacity crowd, underscoring the growing influence of digital creators on the Spring Mountain Road corridor. The event, co-hosted by COYA Living and ChinatownVegas.com, honored 20 photographers, videographers, food personalities, and storytellers for their contributions to the neighborhood's culture and commerce.
Emceed by Jason Harris, a writer, film director, and City Cast correspondent, the private reception brought together honorees, chefs, restaurant owners, and community partners. Recognized in five groups, the honorees included @lasvegasfill, @brandonfromvegas, @wheretogovegas, @therubyontherocks, @baileyzeats, and others who have helped spotlight local businesses.
Joe Muscaglione, founder of ChinatownVegas.com and Chinatown Amplify, emphasized the creators' impact: "The creators honored through these awards have done far more than post about restaurants," he said. Their work, he noted, has helped the world see why Las Vegas Chinatown, with 23.9 million annual visits and 248 verified sit-down restaurants, is a destination.
The evening featured culinary contributions from notable chefs and restaurants. Sparrow + Wolf and Lamaii, both freshly recommended by the MICHELIN Guide, offered signature dishes. Chef Brian Howard presented a smoky Isaan sausage with fermented green mango, while Lamaii served garlicky crispy prawns. Chef Steve Kestler of Aroma Latin American Cocina created a citrus-forward Chinatown Ceviche exclusively for the event. Shanghai Taste contributed an abalone and sea cucumber meatball, and Double Zero Pie & Pub debuted its New York-style pizza. China Mama served orange chicken, and Mama's House × Durango Social Club offered rice dumplings. O.Onigiri provided a tri-pack of unagi, wagyu, and shrimp tempura, while Noodlehead's beef rolls were passed throughout the evening.
Sweets came from Charismatic Yo, Mochi! founder Santy Luangpraseuth with crème brûlée mochi donuts, Moignet Café's mini chiffon sando, and Milk Bread's warm cheese and guava bread. Paul Ellis poured wine and champagne, pairing his port service with a blue cheese flight, while The Alchemist Bar & Restaurant provided cocktails and zero-proof beverages.
Notable guests included rock photographer David Plastik and music publicist Mitch Schneider, who called the event a "meaningful event" honoring creators "who've helped put Las Vegas Chinatown on the map."
ChinatownVegas.com is presenting complete coverage in a special edition of This Week in Chinatown, with a written report and companion video. The awards were established to formally recognize the independent work of creators who have built awareness of the corridor, turning individual businesses into destinations.
The over-capacity attendance and broad participation signal a strong future for the Chinatown Creator Awards, as the neighborhood continues to grow and attract attention.
