HKTDC Twin Jewellery Shows Open, Reinforcing Hong Kong as World's Largest Jewellery Marketplace

The 12th Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show opened today at AsiaWorld-Expo, running through March 6, while the 42nd Hong Kong International Jewellery Show will be held from March 4-8 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the twin shows reinforce their position as the world's largest one-stop jewellery marketplace, bringing together some 4,000 exhibitors from over 40 countries and regions, with 70% coming from outside Hong Kong.

Jenny Koo, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, said the shows present an extensive spectrum of product categories under the “Two Shows, Two Venues” format, including diamonds, gemstones, pearls, finished jewellery, designer brands, and industry technologies. The Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show features more than 20 pavilions, including the debut of the Zhushan Turquoise Pavilion from Hubei, China, known as the “Hometown of Chinese Turquoise.” The Tanzanite Foundation and the International Colored Gemstone Association also return. Key product zones—the Hall of Fine Diamonds, Treasures of Nature, and Treasures of Ocean—highlight high-end materials, such as a fancy intense pink VVS2 diamond from Arihant Star (HK) Limited (Booth: AWE 5--C15), an 11-carat cushion-cut Colombian emerald from Emco Gem Inc. (Booth: AWE 7--H01), and a freshwater pearl strand from Alain Boite S.A.S. (Booth: AWE 1--A20).

Industry seminars and events throughout the show address market trends. On March 2, De Beers will analyze the natural diamond market in “Diamonds Forever Forward: Igniting Desire for Natural Diamonds.” On March 4, Gem Lab Gübelin Gem Lab Limited will discuss “Sustainable Gem Practices: Provenance & Ethical Traceability,” integrating scientific testing and blockchain records. On March 5, a special promotion conference for Zhushan Turquoise will explain its mining and transformation into jewellery.

The International Jewellery Show, opening Wednesday, will feature 20 group pavilions, including the debut of the World Gold Council's Hard Pure Gold Pavilion and the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Pavilion. The creative Designer Galleria will showcase about 50 designer exhibitors, while the Hall of Fame has expanded by more than 40% with international jewellery brands. The HKTDC will provide free shuttle buses between AsiaWorld-Expo and urban areas, including the HKCEC, and continue measures for Muslim buyers, such as prayer rooms and shuttle buses to mosques.

Partnering with the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the HKTDC offers exclusive buyer privileges for dining, air tickets, and hotels. The twin shows adopt an Exhibition+ hybrid format, with the AI-powered Click2Match platform enabling online business matching from February 23 to March 13. Physical buyers can use Scan2Match to scan exhibitor QR codes and continue discussions online. Pre-registration is available via the HKTDC Marketplace App and official websites.

The shows underscore Hong Kong's role as a global hub for the jewellery trade, driving innovation in certification and ethical sourcing. The GIA Hong Kong Laboratory Limited (Booth: AWE 9--M03) launches a new coloured gemstone report with clearer information on stone type, processing, and origin. A leading laboratory and research institution at Booth AWE 7--H26 promotes origin technologies for accuracy and transparency in gemstone identification. These developments highlight the industry's shift toward traceability and consumer confidence.
