HKTDC Launches GreenBiz HK Campaign in Bangkok to Boost Hong Kong-Thailand Green Economy Collaboration

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) launched the GreenBiz HK campaign in Bangkok on March 18, 2026, with a forum, networking events, and business matching meetings. The campaign aims to foster collaboration between Hong Kong and Thailand in the green economy, focusing on green finance, technology, supply chain, and sustainable smart city development.

The GreenBiz HK Forum, held at the Grande Centre Point Lumphini Hotel, attracted over 550 representatives from government and business across Thailand. Bangkok Governor Dr Chadchart Sittipunt, the Guest of Honour, delivered opening remarks. The forum highlighted Hong Kong's role as an international green finance and innovation hub while strengthening Hong Kong-Thai economic ties.

Anna Cheung, Assistant Executive Director of the HKTDC, said: “Hong Kong is well established as a superconnector and super value-adder. Its thriving ecosystem for green innovation and sustainable development combines policy support with strong finance flows, targeted R&D funding, dedicated innovation clusters and scalable solutions. GreenBiz HK enables business leaders and experts from Hong Kong and Thailand across different fields to exchange practical insights and experiences, while exploring mutually beneficial opportunities and partnerships.”

Dr Chadchart Sittipunt said: “The green transition requires strong partnerships, shared vision, and collective action across the public and private sectors. The GreenBiz HK Forum is an important platform connecting Hong Kong’s green strengths with Bangkok’s sustainable development ambitions.”

The forum's plenary session, “Hong Kong-Thailand Partnerships for Sustainability and Innovation,” featured speakers including Ms Chaoni Huang, Executive Vice President of the Hong Kong Green Finance Association and Managing Director, Head of Sustainable Finance and Transition, Asia, HSBC; Dr Kang Qu, Managing Director of Sustainability Strategy at Bank of China (Hong Kong); Dr Kim Mak, Chairman of ATAL Engineering Group; and Mr John Lo, Founder of the Asia Carbon Institute. They discussed innovative financing tools accelerating corporate ESG transformation, green technologies, and decarbonization strategies. Mr Huang Weiwei, Senior Vice Chairman of CP China, Charoen Pokphand Group, shared Thailand's experience in renewable energy and noted how Hong Kong's capital platforms can support Thai enterprises in advancing the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economic model.

Two concurrent breakout sessions deepened cooperation. The “Driving a Sustainable Tomorrow through Green Technology and Integrated Design” session, with speakers from the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute, Henderson Land, Arup, and Otherland Limited, focused on green technologies and smart city applications. Dr Krithpaka Boonfueng, Executive Director of Thailand’s National Innovation Agency, expressed interest in leveraging Hong Kong’s strengths. The second session, “Building Smarter, Greener and Healthier Cities,” supported by BEAM Society Limited and the Hong Kong Green Building Council, examined green building standards and supply chain opportunities.

Business matching sessions translated dialogue into concrete partnerships, strengthening ties and enabling enterprises to capture green economy opportunities. The GreenBiz HK campaign is part of the Economic and Trade Express (ETE) platform, helping Hong Kong SMEs explore overseas markets. A networking luncheon was supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) Bangkok.

The HKTDC also organized a Hong Kong Green Team delegation from March 17 to 20, co-led by Ms Anna Cheung and Ir Dr Lo Wai Kwok, Chairman of the HKTDC Infrastructure Development Advisory Committee. The 18 delegates, representing integrated green services, met with the Thai Green Building Institute, Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand, WHA Industrial Development, and TPI Polene Public Company Limited to explore partnerships.

GreenBiz HK brings together Hong Kong’s green service providers across finance, ESG advisory, green building, property technology, and smart city solutions, fostering cross-sector collaboration. The HKTDC will continue using this platform to organize business missions and conferences, supporting enterprises in Southeast Asia and the Chinese Mainland in leveraging Hong Kong’s strengths to expand internationally.
