Greenland Mines Ltd (NASDAQ: GRML) announced that IP Australia has granted Australian Patent No. 2023252508, covering gene therapy technology exclusively licensed by the company’s Biotech Division for the treatment of neuromuscular diseases through expression of the human Klotho protein. The patent strengthens the intellectual property supporting Greenland Mines’ Klotho-based therapeutic platform and includes claims covering gene therapy constructs, neuronal and induced pluripotent stem cells, and viral and non-viral delivery systems.
The company said the patent further supports development of its KLTO-202 program targeting amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (“ALS”) and other neuromuscular disorders. This patent grant is significant for Greenland Mines as it expands the geographic protection of its Klotho gene therapy platform, which is central to the company’s biotech division. The Australian patent adds to the company’s existing intellectual property portfolio and underscores the potential of Klotho-based therapies in addressing neurodegenerative diseases with high unmet medical needs.
