Giotto.ai Launches Free Cloud Access to Its AI System, Emphasizing European Sovereignty

Giotto.ai, the Swiss AI lab founded in 2017, today announced the launch of a free cloud version of its general-purpose AI system, making advanced intelligence available to everyone, everywhere as of now. The announcement follows the recent launch of Giotto.ai’s enterprise offering and the beginning of its deployment with selected enterprise partners. With this new public cloud release, Giotto.ai is taking the next step in its mission: to become a civic AI infrastructure built in Switzerland and available to the world.

Giotto Cloud is designed to give anyone access to a powerful, intelligent, and reliable AI system, free of charge, directly from the browser, and without artificial usage caps. “Artificial intelligence is becoming infrastructure,” said Aldo Podesta, CEO and co-founder of Giotto.ai. “Access to advanced AI should not be reserved only for large corporations, hyperscalers, or closed foreign platforms. We are releasing an intelligent infrastructure that is open, accessible, and useful to people everywhere.”

The new cloud version of Giotto is hosted in Europe, on latest-generation NVIDIA B300. This deployment reflects Giotto.ai’s commitment to European technological sovereignty, data proximity, and the development of AI systems that can be operated within European infrastructure while remaining accessible globally. The move positions Giotto Cloud as a distinct alternative to AI services from US-based hyperscalers, emphasizing trust and compliance with European data regulations.

Giotto Cloud gives users access to a general-purpose reasoning system capable of supporting writing, analysis, research, document work, coding assistance, and everyday productivity. The system builds on Giotto.ai’s research in advanced reasoning and test-time compute, as well as the company’s experience developing enterprise-grade AI systems. The launch represents a different model for AI access: not a closed platform, not only a commercial subscription product, but a public-facing intelligence layer available to everyone.

“Europe should build, operate and make advanced intelligence available to everyone. Giotto Cloud is our contribution to that future: a free, intelligent AI system, built in Europe and open to the world,” said Podesta. Giotto.ai will continue to serve enterprises and institutions through its Download, Use, and Buy offering, allowing customers to deploy Giotto in controlled environments, access it through managed infrastructure, or acquire dedicated AI appliances. The free cloud version complements this strategy by making Giotto available to the broader public.

This announcement underscores a growing trend of European AI labs asserting independence from dominant US platforms, with implications for data privacy, digital sovereignty, and equitable access to advanced AI tools. By providing free, unrestricted access, Giotto.ai aims to democratize AI while ensuring that European values and infrastructure underpin its deployment. The initiative could accelerate adoption of AI across small businesses, educators, and individuals who previously lacked resources for premium AI services.
