The Georgia Latino Film Alliance (GALFA) has announced the 15th Annual Georgia Latino International Film Festival (GALIFF), which will take place from September 30 through October 4, 2026, at Atlanta's historic Fox Theatre. This milestone year, often referred to as a quinceañera, will feature Mexico as the Country of Honor, showcasing the nation's rich cinematic tradition through films, filmmaker appearances, cultural programming, and cuisine.
For fifteen years, GALIFF has served as a platform for underrepresented voices, championing independent filmmakers and connecting Georgia audiences with stories from Latin America and beyond. The festival has grown into one of the Southeast's premier Latino film festivals, providing opportunities for emerging artists and fostering a sense of community. Yvette Moise, Co-Founder and President of GALFA/GALIFF, emphasized the significance of the anniversary, stating, "This Quinceañera is more than an anniversary, it's a celebration of every filmmaker, volunteer, sponsor, and audience member who believed in our mission." She also noted the importance of honoring Mexico, whose cinematic legacy has inspired storytellers worldwide.
In conjunction with the anniversary, GALIFF has launched a redesigned website at galiff.org, aiming to serve as a year-round hub for film enthusiasts. The site will offer event information, film submissions, volunteer registration, and educational resources, extending engagement beyond the festival itself. Dr. Jose Marquez, Founder and CEO of GALFA/GALIFF, highlighted the inclusive nature of the celebration: "This isn't just our celebration, it's Atlanta's Hispanic Heritage celebration. Whether you're premiering your first film, attending your first screening, volunteering behind the scenes, or helping us grow as a sponsor, you are part of this story."
The festival's longevity is attributed to the support of sponsors and community partners, including The Fox Theatre, Ole Mexican Foods, Fulton Films, VensureHR, 222Creative, WIFTA, Georgia Films, Dekalb Entertainment Commission, and the Georgia Latino Film Alliance. These partnerships have been instrumental in elevating diverse voices and creating a vibrant cultural celebration.
The 15th annual festival promises five days of cinema, conversation, and cultural exchange, bringing together audiences from all backgrounds to experience the power of storytelling without borders. Festival passes, tickets, sponsorship opportunities, volunteer registration, and film submissions are available at galiff.org. As GALIFF celebrates this significant milestone, it looks toward an even bigger future for Latino cinema in Georgia and beyond.
