U.S. Term Limits announced today that former New Hampshire State Representative Linda Massimilla has agreed to serve as the organization's New Hampshire State Co-Chair, alongside former State Senate President Chuck Morse. The appointment underscores a growing push within the Granite State to enact term limits for members of Congress.
Representative Massimilla brings a depth of public service to the role, having served as an elementary school teacher, adjunct faculty member at Plymouth State University, and as a state representative for Grafton 1. Her work on child sex trafficking legislation and veterans' issues earned her a Women of Excellence Award from the National Foundation of Women Legislators and the Pollyanna Signature Award from her hometown of Littleton.
"I am honored to serve as the New Hampshire State Co-Chair for U.S. Term Limits and eager to work with Senator Morse on this issue," said Representative Massimilla. "Now more than ever before, the need for term limits is crystal clear. Polls show that one issue that unites all citizens regardless of political affiliation is the need for congressional term limits. Over 80% of Americans want congressional term limits enacted at once to bring true reform to our government and end the dysfunction of entrenched ways that we see in Washington, D.C. daily."
Massimilla emphasized the constitutional avenue available to states, referencing the amendment process included by the Founding Fathers. "When government ceases to work for we the people, the Founding Fathers included a constitutional amendment process to be used by the states to right the country. If the times we live in don't warrant this usage, then when does?" she said.
Philip Blumel, President of U.S. Term Limits, expressed confidence in the new leadership. "We are honored to have Representative Massimilla leading our efforts in New Hampshire with Senator Morse to pass term limits for Congress. Under their guidance, I am confident we will get our term limits resolution passed in New Hampshire."
U.S. Term Limits is the largest grassroots term limits advocacy group in the country, connecting supporters with legislators to pass term limits at all levels of government, particularly on the U.S. Congress. More information is available at termlimits.org.
The appointment signals a renewed effort in New Hampshire to join the growing number of states calling for a constitutional amendment to limit the terms of U.S. representatives and senators. With broad public support—polls indicate over 80% of Americans favor term limits—advocates believe the time is ripe for action.
