MIDDLESEX COUNTY, CT – A one-day food drive on August 5 brought together residents, volunteers, and local organizations to combat food insecurity across Middlesex County. The initiative, named “Flood the Food Banks,” was organized in partnership with Middlesex United Way as part of the Middlesex Pantry Project, which aims to strengthen local food pantries and ensure access to nutritious food throughout the year.
The drive collected an estimated 2,500 to 3,000 pounds of food, distributed among 13 food pantries and food banks in the county, including two direct drop-offs to smaller pantries. Donations included non-perishable staples such as canned vegetables, soup, pasta, rice, peanut butter, cereal, shelf-stable milk, canned tuna and chicken, macaroni and cheese, and other essential items. Collection points were set up at participating grocery stores and community locations.
The Flood Law Firm, a Connecticut personal injury law firm, served as the presenting partner, helping to raise awareness and encourage participation. Firm members also volunteered, interacting with residents and contributing directly to the cause. The event underscored the importance of year-round donations, as food pantries serve families in need beyond the holiday season.
“Giving back to the communities where we live, work, and serve our clients is an important part of who we are,” said Brian Flood, co-founder of The Flood Law Firm. “Flood the Food Banks brought our team together with Middlesex United Way and community members for a meaningful effort that will help support families and individuals throughout Middlesex County.”
The event received local media coverage, including reporting from WTNH and a sponsored feature highlighting the partnership and community initiative. The success of the drive demonstrates the impact of community collaboration, with thousands of pounds of food and hundreds of dollars in financial contributions reaching organizations serving Middlesex County residents.
The Flood Law Firm, founded in 2012 by brothers Brian and Chris Flood, is known for its advocacy for individuals and families harmed through no fault of their own.
