FleetCollect Launches AI Connector for Truckers to Query Compliance Data via ChatGPT and Claude

FleetCollect, a trucking compliance software platform serving owner-operators and small fleets across all 50 states, has unveiled an AI connector that allows users to query their fleet's IFTA fuel tax, DOT compliance, and carrier data using plain language through AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT. Built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for securely linking AI to external data, this connector aims to streamline access to critical operational information.

For many small carriers, essential answers to daily operational questions are buried in records spanning quarterly IFTA reports, driver files, dispatch logs, and federal databases. Traditionally, accessing this data required navigating through multiple screens and manual reading. The FleetCollect connector eliminates this friction: after a one-time connection between the user's FleetCollect account and an AI assistant, operators can simply ask questions such as "What were my IFTA miles by state for the last quarter?", "Which of my drivers have documents expiring in the next 30 days?", "How many dispatch loads have I run and what's my total revenue?", or "What's my drug-testing status?" and receive direct, plain-language answers derived from their own data.

Beyond a carrier's internal records, the connector can also perform live FMCSA carrier vetting. By entering a USDOT or MC number, users can obtain operating authority, insurance, and safety information directly from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, enabling brokers and dispatchers to verify partners without leaving the AI conversation.

Security and privacy are paramount in this design. All 14 tools in the connector are read-only, meaning the AI can retrieve and summarize information but cannot modify, delete, or execute any actions. Driver personally identifiable information, including emails, phone numbers, and license numbers, is filtered out and never returned. Each request is scoped to the authenticated account, ensuring operators only see their own data. The connector employs OAuth 2.1 with Dynamic Client Registration and PKCE, the latest standards for third-party application access, allowing users to authorize the connection with their existing FleetCollect login and revoke it at any time.

"Owner-operators didn't get into trucking to click through dashboards," said Herman Armstrong, founder of FleetCollect. "We built this so a driver can just ask — 'what do I owe in IFTA,' 'which of my guys is about to expire,' 'is this carrier legit' — and get a straight answer from their own numbers. We made it read-only and privacy-filtered on purpose: it answers questions, it doesn't touch your data."
