First Canadian Graphite Inc. (TSXV: FCI | OTC: GBMIF | FRANKFURT: BR20) has announced the appointment of Michael Iverson to its Board of Directors, effective immediately. Iverson brings more than two decades of leadership in the resource sector, having founded Niogold Mining Corp. and co-founded Fortuna Silver Mines Inc., where he served as Chairman, CEO, and President until 2016. His experience includes raising over $100 million in equity and guiding companies to aggregate market capitalizations exceeding $1 billion.
Iverson's appointment comes as First Canadian Graphite focuses on advancing its Berkwood Graphite Project in northern Quebec, a region where he previously led Niogold's acquisition and exploration success, culminating in its acquisition by Oban Mining Corp. at a substantial premium. "He brings extensive experience and a proven track record of building successful resource companies, particularly in Québec, as well as driving shareholder value."
The Company holds a 43-101 Resource Estimate of 3.2 million tonnes of indicated and inferred graphite at an average grade of 17% at the Berkwood Project. With Iverson's expertise in strategic planning, corporate governance, and capital markets, First Canadian aims to expand the resource through drilling, complete a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA), and move toward production. In conjunction with Iverson's appointment, Brijender (Binny) Jassal has resigned from the board but will continue as Chief Financial Officer. The Company thanks Jassal for his service since 2017. First Canadian Graphite remains committed to fostering relationships with the Pessamit Innu First Nation, on whose traditional territory the Berkwood Project is located.
The appointment underscores the Company's strategy to capitalize on the growing demand for onshore-sourced critical minerals, particularly graphite used in batteries, energy storage, and advanced manufacturing.
