Asia's premier fashion event, CENTRESTAGE, opened on 2 September, and last night the Fashion Hong Kong Runway Show delivered a sensory surge of urban energy. Four prominent local fashion brands—112 mountainyam, ANGUS TSUI, ARTY:ACTIVE, and Z I D I—presented their meticulously crafted Spring/Summer 2027 collections, drawing inspiration from the city's lights, shadows, streets, architecture, cultural memories, and daily flow. The theme, 'Hong Kong Dopamine,' translated the city's unique pulse into a fashion language, with each designer offering a distinct interpretation of dopamine: joy, dark humor, dynamics, or the lightness of defiance.
The show attracted a host of industry professionals, celebrities, and fashion enthusiasts, including luminaries such as Kay Tse, Kevin Chu, Tony Wu, Locker Lam, and Jessica Chan. The enthusiastic reception underscored the importance of such platforms in promoting Hong Kong's creative industries. Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA), CENTRESTAGE runs until 5 September at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Concurrently, the 45th Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair and the 14th Salon de TIME are taking place at the same venue, offering a comprehensive experience of Hong Kong's design and innovation.
The event highlights Hong Kong's strategic position as a cultural and creative hub in Asia. By showcasing local talent on an international stage, Fashion Hong Kong not only boosts the profile of these designers but also reinforces the city's reputation for creativity and innovation. The 'Hong Kong Dopamine' theme is particularly significant as it reflects a positive, energetic outlook, aligning with the city's efforts to promote a vibrant cultural identity. This comes at a time when Hong Kong is actively fostering its cultural and creative sectors, as evidenced by the establishment of the CCIDA, which provides one-stop services and support to nurture talent and facilitate start-ups.
Moreover, the convergence of fashion, watch, and clock industries at these events creates synergies that can drive cross-sectoral collaboration, a key focus of CCIDA's strategy. The presence of international buyers and media further amplifies the reach of these Hong Kong brands, potentially opening new markets and business opportunities.
