DTLA ArtNight, Downtown Los Angeles's monthly celebration of arts, culture, and community, has announced its largest expansion to date, officially incorporating the Fashion District into the event starting Thursday, August 6, 2026. This move unifies three major neighborhoods—Grand Avenue, the Historic Core, and the Fashion District—into a single, interconnected cultural experience, reflecting the organization's mission to activate and connect the diverse creative communities of DTLA.
The expansion is a significant step for DTLA ArtNight, which has grown since its inception into a cornerstone of the city's cultural calendar. By adding the Fashion District, the event now spans a broader geographic area, inviting visitors to explore a neighborhood that has evolved from a hub of fashion and design into a vibrant destination for galleries, artist studios, and creative enterprises. This integration aims to strengthen the sense of a unified Downtown, where arts and culture serve as bridges between communities.
Michael Angelo DeLance, President of DTLA ArtNight and Happening In DTLA, emphasized the importance of this growth: "DTLA ArtNight was created to activate Downtown Los Angeles and showcase everything that makes our city extraordinary. Our mission is to connect neighborhoods through arts and culture while inspiring people to discover the creativity, diversity, and energy that make DTLA unlike anywhere else. Expanding into the Fashion District is an exciting next step as we continue building one connected Downtown."
Among the featured Fashion District partners are the Bendix Building, Kelly O'Brien Atelier × Not For Resale LA, CRE8, Mary at The STILE Hotel, and Zenith Gallery. These venues will open their doors to ArtNight attendees, offering unique experiences that range from working artist studios to hospitality destinations. Kelly O'Brien, founder of Kelly O'Brien Atelier × Not For Resale LA, expressed enthusiasm: "Joining DTLA ArtNight is an exciting opportunity to welcome visitors into our working studio and share both the creative process and the finished work. Experiences like DTLA ArtNight strengthen the Fashion District as a destination for art, fashion, and creativity." Similarly, CRE8 noted that participation marks a milestone in their four-year journey, helping to bring awareness and vibrancy to the neighborhood.
The August edition also introduces significant new programming on Grand Avenue. A highlight is a special classical music collaboration between Grand Performances and The Colburn School, scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Spiral Court at California Plaza. The program will feature works by composers such as Joseph Bologne, Johann Sebastian Bach, Reena Esmail, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, and Astor Piazzolla, showcasing a diverse range of classical traditions. Rafael González, President & CEO of Grand Performances, remarked, "Great programming should surprise and inspire. Our partnership with The Colburn School brings a new classical music experience to DTLA ArtNight, showcasing extraordinary music performed by students and alumni that spans cultures, generations, and traditions."
Additionally, DATALAND, the inaugural exhibition by Refik Anadol, will participate in ArtNight, offering a special promotional booking opportunity for attendees. The Broad, MOCA, and other cultural institutions will also be part of the event, ensuring a rich array of artistic offerings.
DTLA ArtNight is also enhancing its experiential offerings. Samy's Camera and Sony Electronics will host a hands-on photography experience at Emergent Gallery, where participants can borrow Sony cameras and lenses, capture their ArtNight experience, and enter a contest with a $2,000 Grand Prize in Sony gear. Selected entries will be exhibited at Samy's Camera's flagship store. "This contest is about bringing people together through photography," said Roui Kamienowicz, COO of Samy's Camera. "We're excited to partner with Sony on an event that celebrates creativity and our local photography community."
The Biltmore Los Angeles will feature an exhibition by photographer Andrei Duman, "The Art of X Rays," accompanied by live jazz and an artist book signing.
This expansion underscores DTLA ArtNight's commitment to fostering connections across the city's creative sectors. As the event continues to grow, it solidifies its role as a vital platform for artists, businesses, and cultural institutions, inviting Angelenos and visitors alike to experience the richness of Downtown Los Angeles in a unified celebration.
