Course Creator Justin Allan Montgomery Reveals $10K-to-8-Figure CE Blueprint on The Proven Entrepreneur

In a recent episode of The Proven Entrepreneur, host Don Williams sat down with Justin Allan Montgomery, founder of ProCourseStart, to dissect what he calls 'The 8-Figure Loophole: Building a High-Demand Continuing Education Business.' Published July 3, 2026, the episode explores how continuing education (CE) courses for licensed professionals represent a uniquely durable market in an e-learning landscape saturated with generic offerings and AI-generated content.

Montgomery argues that while buyers have grown skeptical of online courses, CE courses are recession-resistant because demand is legally mandated for professionals such as dentists, lawyers, chiropractors, electricians, and nurse practitioners. 'That's a built-in, repeat-buyer market,' Montgomery explains, noting that these professionals must earn credits to maintain their licenses, creating a consistent revenue stream.

The conversation delves into Montgomery's tactical framework for launching a CE business with just $10,000. He recommends allocating roughly $3,000 to product development and $7,000 to marketing. He also advises using AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude to validate a course idea before spending any money on building it. 'You really need to spend more time developing your idea, developing your value proposition, identifying the problems that you're gonna solve,' Montgomery says. 'You need to spend more time on that than you actually spend building the course itself.'

Montgomery shares his own journey, which began in 2018 when he launched The Elite Nurse Practitioner. He spent six months building an audience of about 3,000 nurse practitioners before making a sale, then generated $50,000 in his first seven days. He grew that list to 40,000 subscribers without relying on viral videos or a huge social media following. While simultaneously operating multi-location men's health clinics, he realized, echoing a mentor's advice, that 'you can only build one bridge at a time.' He doubled down on CE, eventually engineered an eight-figure exit, and retired at 39.

Montgomery is candid about the myth of passive income in the course business. 'There's no such thing as passive income. I'm sorry. There just isn't,' he tells Williams. Even his eight-figure business required about ten hours per week of active input while generating $250,000 to $300,000 in monthly course sales, with some Black Friday months topping a million dollars. He now runs ProCourseStart, offering a 15-hour evergreen course and a mastermind program at ProCourseStart.com.

Episode 165 of The Proven Entrepreneur, available at provenentrepreneurshow.com, provides a deep dive into the audience-first model and the strategic steps needed to succeed in the CE market. Montgomery's insights offer a roadmap for entrepreneurs looking to build a sustainable, high-revenue business in a niche with guaranteed demand.
