Clym Environmental Services, LLC celebrated the official opening of its new processing facility in Frostburg, Maryland, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 27, 2026. The event drew more than 100 attendees, including elected officials, industry leaders, and community partners, who gathered to mark the milestone and tour the facility.
The facility, once fully operational, will utilize Clym's proprietary ozone treatment technology to process biohazardous material and convert it into safe, reusable materials. The technology generates ozone from ambient air and is powered by solar energy, an approach designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional thermal treatment methods. This aligns with Clym's commitment to sustainability in the life sciences, healthcare, and pharmaceutical industries.
The ceremony featured remarks from state and regional leaders, including Maryland Commerce Secretary Harry Coker, Allegany County Commissioner Bill Atkinson, and Kelly Schulz, CEO of the Maryland Tech Council. Juli McCoy, President & CEO of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the facility's potential to create living-wage jobs and its synergy with Frostburg State University, calling it "a perfect fit for the Frostburg Business Park and Allegany County."
Clym also received a certificate of congressional recognition presented on behalf of Congresswoman April McClain Delaney. Kendall Abruzzese, Western Maryland Outreach Coordinator, praised Clym's "pioneering work in environmentally friendly and innovative waste management biotechnology" and its contribution to workforce opportunities and long-term economic growth in Western Maryland.
The ribbon-cutting follows several milestones for Clym, including being named the Life Sciences Innovation of the Year at the Maryland Tech Council's 2026 ICON Awards. The new facility supports Clym's continued expansion across the eastern United States and reinforces its role in advancing sustainable waste management practices.
Energy Select, the solar company behind the facility's solar installation, hosted a display highlighting the benefits of the new system. Attendees also had the opportunity to learn about the ozone treatment technology through information stations and view a rendering of the facility's soon-to-be-completed interior.
