Cayenne Wellness Center to Host 5th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Educational Summit on Sickle Cell Disease

Cayenne Wellness Center has announced its 5th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Educational Summit, scheduled for September 15–16, 2026, at the Marriott Long Beach Downtown in Long Beach, California. The two-day event, which will also be available online, is designed for healthcare professionals, educators, social workers, students, Hispanic and Latino individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease, and members of the broader community.

The summit's timing holds special significance, as it coincides with National Sickle Cell Awareness Month and the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month on September 15. This convergence underscores the importance of addressing the intersection of culture, health, and identity in sickle cell care. The program will explore how country of origin and genetic background influence community-centered education, while providing practical tools for self-advocacy and navigating comorbidities.

A central element will be a warrior-led roundtable, offering individuals living with sickle cell disease a platform to share their experiences directly with attendees. The agenda also includes discussions on the transition from pediatric to adult care, as well as breakout sessions focusing on men's health, women's health, international warriors, and providers and caregivers.

The summit is supported by key sponsors, including Beam Therapeutics, Inc. as a GOLD sponsor, and Chiesi USA, Inc. and Global Rare Diseases as SILVER sponsors. Their contributions are vital in making the event accessible and impactful.

Registration is now open for warriors, families, caregivers, healthcare professionals, advocates, and community organizations. Interested parties can register at https://cayennewellness.org/espanol/hispanic-heritage-virtual-seminar-2026. Vendor and exhibitor opportunities are also available for community organizations, businesses, and healthcare entities, with reservations at https://tinyurl.com/HHVENDOR2026.

Cayenne Wellness Center and Children's Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2000, is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals with sickle cell disease in California. The summit reflects its commitment to providing culturally responsive education, advocacy, and resources, aiming to expand awareness and strengthen pathways to care within Hispanic and Latino communities.
