Cake4Kids, the national nonprofit that mobilizes volunteer bakers to deliver custom cakes and desserts to underserved children, will celebrate a landmark milestone on May 2, 2026: 100,000 children served nationwide. The Greater Boston chapter, marking its own fifth anniversary, will host a free, open-to-the-public Cupcake Picnic to honor the achievement and rally community support for continued expansion.
The event is part of Cake4Kids' nationwide 100,000 Moments campaign, which aims to raise awareness and funds to expand the organization's reach. The picnic will feature cupcakes baked by local volunteers, family-friendly activities, and opportunities to learn about volunteering or partnering with Cake4Kids.
Since its founding in 2010, Cake4Kids has grown into a volunteer-driven network of thousands of bakers across 19 states, delivering custom cakes and desserts to children in foster care, homeless shelters, group homes, and domestic violence shelters at no cost to recipients or partner agencies. The Boston chapter, launched in 2021, has played a significant role in this growth, serving hundreds of children in the Greater Boston area each year.
"Reaching 100,000 children is a testament to the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of our community," said Elise Thomas, a spokesperson for the Boston chapter. "This milestone is not just a number—it represents 100,000 moments of joy and celebration for children who often go without."
Cake4Kids of Boston is actively seeking new partnerships with local agencies to expand their reach and serve more children in the region. The organization relies on volunteer bakers to create custom cakes for birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions. Each cake is made with care and delivered with a personal touch, ensuring that every child feels valued.
The Cupcake Picnic will take place on May 2, 2026, at a location to be announced. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP via the campaign website. For more information about Cake4Kids and how to get involved, visit cake4kids.org.
