Brazil Potash CEO to Address Global Food Security at IDB Annual Meeting

Brazil Potash Corp. (NYSE-American: GRO) announced that its CEO, Matt Simpson, has been invited to participate as a speaker on a Global Food Security Panel at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Annual Meeting of Governors, scheduled to take place in Asunción, Paraguay. This major international development finance gathering includes representatives from member nations, multilateral institutions, and global investors.

The invitation underscores the growing recognition of the company's Autazes Project as a potential contributor to Brazil's fertilizer independence. Brazil currently imports over 95% of its potash despite being one of the world's leading agricultural exporters. The Autazes Project, which is expected to produce up to 2.4 million tons of potash annually, could supply approximately 20% of Brazil's current potash demand, thereby reducing reliance on imports and supporting domestic agriculture.

According to the press release, the project is also anticipated to mitigate approximately 1.4 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year. The potash produced will be transported primarily using low-cost river barges on an inland river system in partnership with Amaggi, one of Brazil's largest farmers and logistical operators. Management anticipates that 100% of Brazil Potash's production will be sold domestically.

The IDB Annual Meeting provides a platform for discussing critical issues such as global food security, and Simpson's participation highlights the strategic importance of the Autazes Project in addressing the vulnerability of Brazil's agricultural sector. Brazil is critical for global food security due to its abundant fresh water, arable land, and ideal climate for year-round crop growth, but its heavy reliance on imported fertilizers poses a risk. The development of domestic potash production could help stabilize supply chains and support global food production.
